There's definitely some confusion/disagreement on who you'd choose for your NHL franchise, and who you would choose for a 2 week tournament.

Guys like Domi and Duclair, Galchenyuk (another immensely overrated player), are inevitably going to be better players than Miller in the long run. But for a short tournament before the season starts, not necessarily.

Miller was chosen because he's a bull on skates, can play physical, forecheck hard, and still has a decent pair of hands to score. A guy like Duclair would look miserable on NAs 4th line. Another one is Druoin - he scored but he's been pretty invisible paired with two elite, well established NHL players. He also has very little experience aside from his recent playoff run (which was damn impressive though).

Once again, Miller is not even top 15 of the young North American forwards I would take for the Rangers in the long term. But I think he would do a fine job, and better than a few other players, if he wasn't fighting an uphill battle from the start. Not the end of the world though, it's a an honor for him to make this team.

Ding ding ding ding.

Galchenyuk is overrated?

Enlighten me.

If Miller put up the points Galch put up this year, and Penguins fans offered us Crosby for Miller, everyone on this board would scream bloody murder and that it's a terrible deal for the Rangers.

Really? I don't think everyone would be freaking out.

I don't understand the second part of your post (was this an HF proposal I missed?) but I think you glossed over the part where I said that I would still take Galchenyuk over Miller. He is not the superstar in the making people talk him up to be though.

You guys will argue over any stupid thing.

Miller is a good player, he's skilled, though he probably hasn't really reached the point of being able to use his skill consistently.

Others players are also good players, probably moreso than Miller.

But arguing over why Miller is on team NA instead of other players is dumb. Who cares? Why are you even arguing about it? If he doesn't play much, who cares? This isn't the NHL season either.

Chill and stop nitpicking every damn thing that comes up, whether it's thinking someone else is overrated or stats mining players to argue about who should or shouldn't do this or that

^^^ and you're more worked up about this than anyone else.

Apologies for the civil discussion that was taking place on a hockey forum above you. Before you started dropping damns.

oh no a damn!

This board argues intensely about pretty much everything at the drop of a hat and it's been worse leading up to training camp

Well for starters, that was far from an intense argument. Did you even read the posts?

Second of all, you have dozens of passionate, extremely knowledgable fans that are not going to see eye to eye on certain issues, so there's going to be disagreements. This should be allowed - in fact they are usually pretty interesting.

I obviously don't need to tell you any of this...but talk about a random example of an argument to blow your gasket over.

I haven't seen anyone claim Galch to be a superstar, but it's easy to say players not on your team who are actually quite good are overrated.

That would imply I look at stats and don't actually watch Galchenyuk. Which couldn't be further from the truth.

I have said since before he played in the NHL that he's not as good as everyone views him, and I stick by that. Happy to be proven wrong though, even if he's not on my team!

Was fully expecting darude sandstorm

hehe, I`m 40 years old though, but I feel young with such music.
Although, don`t take all I say here too seriously, and I don`t need to win all the battles here on this forum. :D
I`m probably childish in some discussions, but when I look at x players like Marty St. Louis who is about my age - it`s easier for me to root for Teams like Canada, USA, or Sweden, Team EU who have more experience NHL players.

I`m loyal to NY players though - that`s my reasoning I would really enjoy to see J.T Miller in action for instance, but I`m not bitter about it. :)
