THE WAITING IS OVER a

How much of McDonagh being bad is on him and how much is on Niskanen tonight? Though both have been not good individually in spurts, I guess.
I'd say quite a bit lol. Not being snarky, he looked pretty bad on a few individual plays.

On the bench, watching.

That's bad. That 6 on 4 should've been built around him firing one-timers. I ain't mad because Stepan would've been blocking them, but that seems like poor coaching.

Here's tonight's game. How does this stand up to your eye-test?

Patches did a lot better tonight, and the chart shows it too.

I'm surprised by Stepan's placement a bit.

Niskanen and McDonagh...not surprised.

I wonder how much of the overall placement for the players were affected by the third period. Because the last 10 minutes was atrocious for Team USA.

They had their chances, can't be too mad about it. Would've wanted to see him in PP, especially after the game he had. Now we had the PP sniper watching and Granlund there instead who can't shoot as well. Oh well. Not too sold with the coaching staff so far, but these are only exhibition games so hopefully they get their **** together by Sunday. Good comeback nevertheless.

Steps only played 10:38 at 5v5. For his minutes, dull is good.

This is a great looking chart. You've outdone yourself!

Suter and Carlson were beastly compared to McD & Niskanen.

Thanks!

I'm being swayed to the dark side. This advanced stats thing could become addictive.

It's a fun time. Just another way to learn/discuss hockey. I'm liking this idea of posting these charts after each game. They eye-test is still fresh. I'm hoping people will look at the charts and compare who they thought was good to who teh corsis says was good. More often than not, I'd imagine they are in line with one another.

Yeah, I guess so.

I didn't really see anything to complain about when he was on the ice, so I'll take that

Wished he got a bit more ice-time though.

The 5v5 ice time was pretty evenly distributed among forwards this game. I suspect as the tournament goes on, there will be a heavier reliance on some players? Could be wrong.

How DARE you bring my advanced stats thread personality into this thread! In this thread, I'm trying to be the stat guy who is bridging the gap between the stats and the eyes. In the advanced stats thread, I am free to be the demon I am. Away with ye

didn't watch this game but McDonagh has looked tentative to me so far in this WC, while Buff, the only D man on the team that was playing loose and like an offensive defenseman, was immediately sent to forward

Reminds this is Torts coaching...

Torts hates his defensemen taking risks.

The moment Larkin scored I had a nice chuckle because I figured that would be the last we saw of JT. Hoping I am wrong.

I'm really impressed by stepans showing so far!! He really turns it on for team USA. I'm excited I think he finally breaks 60 this year. Is this is first year with a full start not injuried/contract issues? Or was that last year

Not sure if anyone posted yet. Seguin suffered a knee injury. Out of WC.

we have a ready to go Nash + a lightly used Staal for them! All for the price of Nuch, Honka, and a 1st!

only semi serious, but Nash would be a good all-around forward for them

I haven't seen any lineup for tonight yet, but I'm keeping my eyes open.

Been looking everywhere for lineups on Team NA, but can't find anything. Craig Custance has been the go-to guy for line-ups, but he has been quiet. Not long 'til the game starts, and we're completely in the dark.
