Germany has a top roster though.
Lots of talent up front including new Messi, midfield is amazing and that D is fabulous with world class Sule, world class Schlotterbeck, etc... And the best goalie duo.
They really should be competing for the WC and I expect them to.

Top roster.? Literally how?

You’re vastly overrating their players. They really don’t have many world class players compared to France/England/Brazil.

"Tons of chances". I missed the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half, so it must have been a hell of lot of chances in that time frame. Because ever since then I saw a Gundogan shot from 20 yards that hit the outside of the post, and an incredibly poor shot from Hofmann and a low % header from Gnabry. And that's it.
I mean, Japan's chance was low %age. Havertz was barely off side. A poor shot doesn't change the quality of the chance.

Japan isn’t out of the woods yet

Yeah they are. This game was over the second Japan tied it. Germany are so mentally weak it’s beyond predictable. Anyone who’s watched this German team in recent years knows they were gonna fold like an accordion the very moment they faced adversity.

Half so.
They do have a very good roster even if someone tends to overrate some players.

Japan playing like in a Manga every time. It's such a joy to see them.
Japan play like USA should play. Both teams need to win with their running. Similar talent too. Same with the Koreans

It's unevenly distributed talent and also they replaced Löw with his own assistant, so its not like the approach changed in any notable way.

Unevenly distributed/call it whatever you want. Their players aren’t good enough. And this is the case far more often than not vet when they get compared to the world elite. Germany have always been a level behind the other top nations.
