Everyone acting like Germany sucks but you have to credit Japan with making them look toothless

Nah any team would have done this to Germany, same Germany I’ve been watching since forever. Overrated. Not good enough.

Ooph. Well that was disappointing. Definitely not choosing the easy path

Kudos to Japan though, they improved dramatically in the second half and that 2nd goal was just wonderfully taken.

Gunna need to play a lot better in the 2nd match.

I think he means greatest fans:sarcasm:

Saw this coming. Japan's movement off the ball is incredible.
I really liked Japan to get out of this group. Winning game 1 is a huge deal. Germany could still make it out too. That game vs Spain will be huge. Japan matches up pretty well with Spain too (but not as good as with Germany)

Japan deserves a ton a credit. They were very well prepared for this game, came back and tactics were pretty spot on. I do think they picked the wrong XI but they won it off the bench

Japan showed that when you push Germany they fold. Germany looked good only as long as Japan was happy to defend much. Once Japan bucked up and started putting numbers into midfield, Germany didn't know how to handle it. All these German midfielders love parking their asses 10 yards outside the box and pass the ball back and forth, but they don't know what to do in transition at all.

Flick is partially to blame for replacing his better players with slower worse players.

I'm not sure what he was expecting to happen.

“This might be the dumbest post I have ever seen on the soccer forum.”

It’s true. They only hav 3 world Cups. Compare that to someone like Brazil who has 4…

France
Up front : Havertz, Muller, Gnabry, Musiala, Mokouko, Sane, Adeyemi
That's a decent group of forwards.

Midfield : Gundogan, Goretzka, Kimmich
Strong too, even though the depth isn't crazy

Defense : Rudiger, Schlotterbeck, Sule, Kehrer etc... That's where the problem is. Sule is NOT world class. Rudiger is no more than decent. Kehrer is bad.

Goalie : Neuer, Mats. Zero problem.

They need a midfielder who can cover for that D. They don't have it.

It's certainly not a lack of talent. They can go head to head with anyone but France and Brazil.

"Only 3 or 4 or 5 World Cups" is interesting phrasing for what is an amazing achievement regardless of which number.
