Watched FIN-SUI the from the latter half of the first period onwards. Finland's goal was on a 2-on-0 rush, scored by Lammikko, Switzerland's tie was thanks to a beautiful set-up by Fiala, scored by Malgin. Finland' apparently controlled the first half of the period (as said by the commentators) but SUI got more into the game after the tie.

In the second period FIN maybe with a slight edge, not that many scoring opportunities for either team. Third period quite even, with SUI’s first line having the best opportunities.

SUI’s and the game’s best player Fiala, and the Fiala-Malgin tandem created most of SUI’s offense. For FIN Kapanen stood out in the first two periods, not just in the offensive zone but he had some great backchecking as well. None of the Finns with special games, however. Rantanen (who had a hatty in the game against DEN) was particularly invisible. Kapanen and Fiala with a brief scuffle in the second period.

One of FIN’s youngest player, Aho with the 2-1 goal halfway through the third period. SUI with a stupid penalty in the neutral zone soon after, he straight-up punched a FIN player. FIN played quite maturely when defending the lead, not too defensively. SUI(‘s first line) with some great pressure and opportunities in the last minute when playing without the goalie. The first line seemed to play huge minutes in the third period.

Looks like Forsling is determined to improve his draft position. Has scored 3 of 4 goals so far in the tournament as a D.

Don't you think it's awfully unfair to place the burden of being a hockey embassador/being responsible for the game growing in their countries to kids younger than 18? And calling them "traitors", no less? They'll never win anything internationally playing for countries like Great Britain and Holland, or even play at a high level. I would imagine most players with ties to two countries would opt for playing at the highest level they can and with team mates matching their talent, especially when the contrast is so stark.
Oh so you think it's better to play 4th line, 6 minutes a game and win gold or become a star and a ambassador for your country, get top line minutes, and grow the game???? If that is the case, then they are weak individuals which sounds like they do not want to get better.

Why do you harbour the belief that these players should hold these altruistic ideals? Perlini or Sprong have no duty to help the development of hockey nations. That duty solely relies on the institutions and federations that run the sport domestically.
They do because the point of international professional hockey is to grow the game. Personally I see no reason to compete in pro sports except two things, win and to grow your sport. The money is a side bonus.

Plus, who are you to declare how Perlini and Sprong identity themselves? Canada has played a significant part in both their lives (Perlini has a Canadian family and has spent several years of his life in Canada). This isn't a Barkov situation where a Russian family had their son entirely grow up in Finland.
Look at Dainius Zubrus, he was eligible for both Russia and Lithuania, and he could easily play for Russia's bottom 6. He decided to play for Lithuania because they needed him more than Russia.

I would put myself before my country 100%. I don't associate myself anymore with a random strange hundreds of miles away than i do with an American accross the Atlantic ocean.
You're right about that, but in what WAYS would these players be "hurt" by joining Netherlands or Great Britian. I would love to know, are they going to be murdered? Is their development tract going to hit a wall because they decided to play 5 games in WCA2????

If you took some time to look at the IIHF's rules regarding dual-citizenship you'd know that Perlini most likely isn't even eligible to play for Great Britain.

Pretty even game between the Czechs and the US so far after the first period. Dylan Larkin was hurt early and hasn't come back yet. That'd be a big loss for the US.
Wrong, Vilmos Gallo was talked in the prospect forum for a long time for being ineligible to play for Hungary. If you check out his career on eliteprospects you would say to yourself that he would be, BUT he was still eligible for Hungary. Looking at Perlini and Sprong, they both qualify for their birth places as Gallo had to be the toughest/worst case for eligibility.

2) Even if these two players go on to become good, even great, NHL players I think the impact they would have on hockey in GBR and NED would be at best minimal. I am not sure how many more people in either country are going to take an interest in hockey because a player who moved away before they were old enough to shave is playing in a league thousands of miles away for a team 5-9 time zones away. You could aurgue they could raise interest by impoving the quality of the NT but seeing as they would be playing in the NHL they could go the entire prime of their career without ever being available to play for it.

Teenagers on the verge of being men, labeling them traitors is still acceptable in my book. If they were 7 year old deciding to play for another country that would be fine, but both SPENT a significant amount of time in each country playing hockey.

I am very curious how you think Sprong and Perlini will bring growth to their respective countries? Did Danny Heatley bring any growth to Deutschland?!

I forgot his name, but there is a traitor who is a Latvian that will play for Sweden and he has a good skill set of talent as well.....

The point of Professional hockey is to make money. If you think otherwise you are incredibly naive.

He played for Russia for a number of years. It's not the same case however. All these cases must be treated on an individual level. Perlini has Canadian family and has played a few years in Canada. You have no idea what or who he identities with, nevermind informing us of what he should or should not do. Get off your high horse.

Again, you seem to bypass the notion that maybe these players identity themselves with different nations. The world isn't black and white and they have strong ties to other nations. They also have no duty to serve any particular nation. The idea that an individual must pledge patriotism to a Country is bizarre. That is another topic, but i find your views bizarrely 1930s European ...

Do people judge you for your life decisions? Do people judge you for giving business to companies that are foreign owned? No, so stop being so ignorant and judgemental. They are entitled to whatever decisions that are open to them and you have absolutely no idea of their lives/way of thinking outside of reading a brief synopsis of where they lived for a few years.

It would be great if International hockey developed further, but these players have no duty to that cause. Hockey is a Profession and people identity with things in a variety of different ways. Who are to judge?

In looking at Gallo's page I see no issues with him representing Hungary as despite playing in Sweden he doesn't seem to be a dual-citizen. Perlini on the other hand is a dual-citizen who has been playing in Canada since he was at least 13. IIHF rules require that a dual-citizen live and play hockey exclusively in the country they wish to represent for at least two full years after thier 12th birthday. According to those rules, Perlini would not be eligible to play for GB.

Thank you,

1-0 the first goal is a bit a strange ... was their a mistake in line changes or what happend so that you suddenly, behind the middle line, have 2 Fins in front of the 3 Swiss behind ... rushing to the goal ? line change mistake ? ... strange. Whatever, Lammikko buries it like an experienced NHLer, in the top left of the door.

1-1 Super assist by Fiala, ... Rod from the goal, brings the puck up, to the blue, passes to Fiala, who passes the defense in a nice way and before that the defense even realizes it, Fiala already made the pass to Malgin on the other side, who buries it on the left side. .... Fiala is conceptualy a genius. This little guy has an amazing hockey IQ 180.

2-1 ... shot from the left by Aho, rebound , Aho takes the puck, goes around the cage, and shoots/centers ... the puck rebounds on the right leg of Decloux ... goal.

I am sure it was a fair game ... with equal number of chances. With maybe Fiala above the others (like another poster described). But the assist he had is amazing, you feel him like Bekham (at the time) making an assist. He was simply above the others conceptualy.

If someone want to add something ... be my guest.

He was only eligible to play for Russia due to a technicality. He received all his training in Lithuania, Ukraine & Canada. He played for Russia in the World Cup, & for Lithuania in all IIHF tournaments.

I think you're confusing Gallo with Norbert Hari, who moved to Sweden at age 12 and became a dual citizen. The IIHF wouldn't allow him to play for Hungary.

7 seconds before the end of the second period Perlini ties the game with PP goal, 1-1

Perlini again, Canada 2-1 Slovakia :(

Where's Dylan Larkin? I haven't seen him in this game vs. Denmark. Sorry if it has been discussed.

No idea, I'm watching the stream and haven't seen him either, so it's safe to assume he's out for whatever reason. That Belpedio kid looks like a solid puck-moving D though.
