U18: World Championship, Lappeenranta & Imatra, Finland

Eichel is showing signs of life as the number 2 rated player behind McDavid. Guess he was conserving energy during preliminary play.

Connor continues to impress with unrelenting forechecking and being dangerously opportunistic in the offensive zone.

Larkin is such an explosive, reliable guy up the middle of the ice with the puck. Underrated vision and passing.

The entire D effort has been solid as unit. Glover with the only real gaffe that wasn't converted on anyway.

SVK looks terrible, can't even get to the US zone anymore.
Matthews with a goal, great assists by Connor and Glover. 4-0 now.

SVK looks terrible
This.
Not only the look poor, they are not battling either.

How could this team only lose by one vs Russia and Canada?

Going by this game, the 2014 draft class look terrible for them (unless they are missing some here), in fact the squad is full of players eligible for the 2015 draft, who actually look better than their 2014 mates.

Haven't found one. I hear the Fin-Swe game is being televised. Surely there will be an online stream for it?

I heard there would be some site that has all Liiga playoffs in addition to , NHL playoffs ect. Maybe the site that shows Liiga has it? I haven't used streams myself as I have the actual channels.

All NHL games are on VLC Player with the help of a certain script from the site that begins with the letter R.

On pay tv.

Pay TV? Well that's brilliant..take a specialized audience and reduce it even more, really great promotion of the event...never heard of selling advertising and reaching a wider audience?

Well this is getting ridiculous. Bad enough the tournament is inexplicably never held in North America (yet the U-20 is every second year because of the obvious revenue and exposure discrepancy)..you can't even watch the damn thing. If the Swedes lose today I never had the chance to see them. That's a joke. We have to start pushing for the tournament to be held over here on occasion.

Feels like finnish TV companies don't understand how to make profit. Showing this U18 tournament on free channel wouldn't affect tiny bit on their pay tv subscriptions as this is not major reason to buy the channel, but they still show it here. The major reason is Skoda Cup, Formula 1 and European football. One long TV commercial during this game would make lots of money, but this tournament alone may get hundreds of subscribers at best.

Well at least I can be happy for my subscription... wait.. I wouldn't really lose anything if these were free.

They only show Finland's games from the Worlds (and the medal round) on free tv and that's only because their obligated by law. The WJC was on pay tv as well until they put the last final on free tv, with about 6-700K viewers watching via that and about 200K on the pay tv channel. For reference, only about a 3rd of Finnish households have a pay tv package and not all of them are sports. That is the lowest number in the Nordic countries.
