Woodcroft's Last Game as Oilers Head Coach?

97 loses puck, skates hard to try and prevent a breakaway goal. All good. Except after the save he skates away like he doesn't give a flying eff. McDavid is a horrible captain, coaches will continue to take the fall.

What do you want him to do after the play stops? Burpees?

As I said on the oiler forum.

For one thing they have zero viable replacement candidates in house. They have no promising guy n the AHL or amongst their assistants they can bring in so it will have to be an 'out house' hire.

They have a lazy front office that moves at a glacial pace and can never look ahead to things that might not be working.

In any case the most that they can hope for is one of those sort term coaching bumps for a few games.

The team is massively flawed, has zero room cap wise to make moves and has a GM that gets totally owned on any move he makes.

The goaltending has been a total joke going back to last playoffs and was not remotely good before that.

Roy had 1 good year as head coach, next 2 years the Avs were garbage. When things go wrong Roy completely loses his shit not a quality you need in a head coach which is why I fully endorse him as Oilers coach.

Last year Roy took His Junior team to the Memorial Cup and won it

I noticed that as well. No pad tap for saving his bacon.

You can blame the coach all day but it doesn't help when Nurse gives the puck away at the blue line for the winning goal or forwards not helping to cover the front of the net for easy goals.

If it were any other team I'd expect Woodcroft to get fired. But it's the Oilers so he'll probably outlast McDrai on the team.

Roy was a train wreck as an NHL coach.

Yeah but he got experience in the minors since and became more patient
Still a hot head, but he's not as unhinge as he was before

And I mean, what's the Risk here?

It can't be worst than right now lol

What exactly can Roy do that the last 4 Oilers coaches were unable to?

If you fire the coach you need a replacement and I have to wonder what decent NHL coach would want to sign with a team that has terrible forward depth, a Titanic defense, and goal tending that resembles Swiss cheese.
Does that leave you with Glen Gulutzan stepping in to fill the void? Heaven forbid. Currently Gulutzan's coaching responsibility is defense.

Good luck. Mandate is for McDavid to play major minutes no matter what.

Roy ain't a loser, he hate that shit more than anything else

He would push the Oilers to the max I think

Again, you're already having the worst case scenario, right now. Roy can't make things worse

So it looks like he's keeping his job for now. It's like Jay has unlimited credits with the oilers organization lol

Probably a huge disappointment to Woodcroft that he has to stay in charge of this tire fire until Katz and Holland figure out what asisine move they are going to make.

Firing will be a godsend to Woodcroft and stop his ongoing nightmare.
