Great game by the Swedish women! Never thougt I'd actually enjoy watching women's hockey. The women have what the men lack, heart! Go Sweden! :highclap:

If you don't care then why respond? I always laugh when people claim not to care about something so much that they have to write about it. :biglaugh: Canada's women don't choke? 2005 WC's 4-0 38gf 0ga and then lose in a shootout after a 0-0 regulation? More laughs. Stick to complaining about big, mean America. :biglaugh:
Whew.
And here I was worried you might be bitter about being booted from the Gold Medal game.

How exactly did this turn into USA vs Canada? :dunno: ;)

Wait, I remember. An American fan wanted to know why so many others were cheering for Sweden..and, well, it went downhill from there :biglaugh:

What an awesome game! This was a huge upset and in Sweden's favor for a change! Kim Martin was stellar in goal, absolutely incredible today! Had to celebrate with some ice cream, still can't believe this happened! Totally awesome! :D

 Kim Martin

Countdown to Martin being scouted by IHL in 3...2....

Hey, if she can hold the fort like that against Canada(won't happen), maybe the Canucks should take a look....

Too late! The Oilers already have dibs. :biglaugh:

Another thing is Lemieux doesn't seem to differentiate between the Montreal Candiens and the rest of the Canadians in the country. I guess spelling isn't a strong point of his.

no way. sweden is gonna force her and lundqvist to have children in a goalie breeding program.

"We've seen the movie (Miracle of Lake Placid) a few times as a team, and we said yesterday that we needed a new miracle," said Sweden's leading scorer, Maria Rooth. "That one happened a while ago."

Martin actually saw the Miracle movie six times, in English, with Swedish subtitles.

"What we took from that movie was to work hard and be the best trained team," said Martin, who had led Sweden to a Olympic bronze medal as a 15-year-old in 2002.

Swedish coach Peter Elander said he had often used the skating drill that coach Herb Brooks used in 1980 after the USA team's 3-3 tie with Norway. "The legs feed the wolf," Elander said.

Congrats to Sweden, your goalie was awesome. I thought this was a GDT not a junior high school hallway with all childish back and forth. :shakehead

That is twisted my friend but it just might work :sarcasm:

Hey, Kovalchuk has given the Russian Women's hockey program hope by having a daughter....

Or would his kid play in the American program?

Hmmm, that'd be kinda weird in 18 years he's playing for team Russia and his daughter is on women's team USA.....

Completletly off tangent :D

Congrats to the Swede's... if nice to see an upset every now and then... considering this is the first loss by Canada or the US to anyone other than each other... this is a monumental day... it could only be better if Sweden has actually out played the US not rode a hot goaltender to the gold medal game... but it's a start... it seems goaltending seems to develop before offense in most countries... just look at the Germans, Swiss and Latvia in the men's tourney

Kim Martin our goalie is IMO the best goalie in the tournament from what I've seen. She has been playing amazing, is only 20 years old and have been training with the junior men players in Sweden (20 and 18 year old) for quite some time now. In the last Olympics she was the reason why we took the bronze medal, she was our big hero then (at the age of 16) and is our big hero now.

Kim Martin

So what is the bigger upset...

Swedish women against the American women

OR

Swiss men against the Czech men

Thoughts anyone...

I have to go with the Swedish woman myself.

1996, August 31, Garmisch: Czech Republic 1-7 Germany :D
