United States women's national ice hockey team - Wikipedia

After this, I think there is a realistic chance one of the US player(s) is the closing cremony flag bearer.

Maybe Rooney or Lamoureux? Kessel or the face of the team Hilary Knight.

I doubt it - Kikkan Randall and Jessie Diggins winning the first US cross country skiing gold ever is far more impressive than the women's hockey team doing what a lot of people expected them to do.

Holy shit.

Congrats USA that was an UNREAL game. These women are god damn wonderful holy shit those shootout dekes. Kessel shoots just like Phill baby, and that Forsberg move? My god I love this sport.

I love the guys who trash women’s hockey because it’s not at the level of men’s hockey.

They are the same people that say it should go away (and that it’s boring because it’s a two team race right now). Wake up.. it’s because this sport needs games like this to grow. It’s not at the level of men’s hockey because it’s not played by nearly as many girls. It has nothing to do with male and female and everything to do with lack of numbers and lack of competition so far.

Not to mention, these girls are most likely far better than those of you critizing and yet you compare them to professional men’s players. These girls are very good hockey players.

You also can’t discredit the entertainment of these Canada and USA games. They are always incredible,

- signed someone who played at a decent level and has played beer league with some of the female players on the three medal winning teams

- end rant

I hate medal games being decided by a shootout.

Final games never should be. I understand if the semis or quarters are because of scheduling but what other game are you trying to get in once you get to the final?

Agree with you. I watched the game and loved it. Utmost respect for women's hockey and sports in general. But fun fact: If iirc, two years ago, the Canadian women's team were trashed 6-0 by some Midget AAA team from Calgary in the 1st period in a friendly. The midget team was told after to go easy to not make the women national team look bad.

They have recently beat AAA teams, too. I’m not comparing guys and girls hockey skill, though.. I think that’s the point.

Fun fact: last year there were 405,000 more male USA hockey players than female. A lot of those males also played for partially or fully funded organizations that make them better, faster.

Games like this and hyping up women’s hockey will help it catch up, not shitting on it.

Or if soccer ended with penalty kicks

can't tell if sarcasm or not because I haven't watched soccer tie in championships

I understand ending regular seasons with shoot outs cuz there's many games, but it's one game that's deciding who's the best

Yeah. Also hope other countries will start investing more into women's hockey which will make the sport even more compelling.

Gold Medal World Cup games have ended in penalty kicks before.

USA! USA!

Proud of the ladies team and while the shootout can f*** right off, Lamouroux's shootout goal was pure filth! Grats to our women's team!

Though I have to wonder, why did Canada shorten the bench and parked a bus during OT? What was the plan?

Daoust was lucky to make the team...and she won MVP.

HC is sick as f*** ... she play CIS so they we'Re not really interested and found lame excuses, too slow, play against inferior players etc...

man we need CHANGES at the direction of HC.

Shooout sucks. Congrats to the USA on a well deserved win.

Wonderful game but these shootouts have to go in the medal rounds. Pumped USA won, but I wish it would’ve ended with some actual hockey, not a skills competition.
