Perfect example. Matthews scores to make it 3-2 then instead of coming back with Tavares or even the 3rd line he comes back with the 4 lines vs their top line and boom 44 seconds later game is tied.

Read the room you just scored 2 quick ones to take the lead and then you say here ya go Jersey tie it up. He gets outmatched against guys who are better match-up coaches.

Besides the TB series last year, he has been outcoached in each series. Cannot make in-game adjustments to what the other team is doing to his team

He is the one part of the Dubas regime that has to go. Bring me in a proven NHL winner who will have the respect of the players as he will coach the right way especially in the playoffs.

When half your cap goes to four forwards you have to accept that your goaltending, defence, and support forwards are all going to be sub par, imo the Leafs are lucky these weaknesses have performed as well as they have………

Attempts at a shut down line over possession. Which is the wrong coaching tactic for this team. There is no shut down line. Shanny is forcing it down , after all he picked up Dewar. Hopefully they learned.

Yeah if we cruise into the playoffs with no adversity, might be more detrimental for us.

We've also been hit with injuries to our top players a lot this season.

I’ve been pessimistic about this core for quite some time, but I think they make a run this year, in spite of Keefe. If not, they better blow it up

I’ve been pessimistic about this core for quite some time, but I think they make a run this year, in spite of Keefe. If not, they better blow it up

I want you to be right in the end, I just don’t see same dedication/hard work consistently that other contenders do. Florida will probably dispose of us easily. They look good for a couple of games, then just revert to an “immature performance” that we saw last night.

I'm not sure why people are saying 3rd is locked up. Tampa is hot lately, and if they get 4 points more than us over the next 11 games, they're in 3rd.
We also play them twice. Which means if they beat us in both, they just need to match our record otherwise.

This team is severely fractured. The worst goaltending in the league. I’m sorry, but Woll is absolutely Trash. Both goaltenders are way too inconsistent.


The forwards are just not good enough. I don’t see them winning a game in the playoffs.

Boston, Florida and Carolina will pulverize them in the playoffs.

Of course they can. Like most teams, it will be a question of goaltending and special teams.

The good news is that even if we can't get JT to retire or waive his NTC, we only have one more year to suffer before we can start to fix the Dubas Disaster.

So far, In the Matthews/Marner/Tavares/Nylander/Rielly era :

They never won the division title ever.

They never won the president trophy ever.

They only won a single playoff series against a tired and injured Tampa team in the first round last year.

They never had a legitimate right handed Norris caliber defenseman elite in every aspect of the game(offensively, physically and defensively)

They seldom play with purpose, poise awareness and intelligence. They take useless risks with the puck, often try to make low percentage fancy plays , often play with tunnel vision and are often Making bad decisions on the ice, and aren’t often playing as a cohesive and collective unit.

The leafs face the same problems and repeat the same mistakes every year, and can’t seem to solve them and learn from them. That’s why they go through the same patterns, go through the same motions and get the same results. NHL’s version of Groundhog Day.

Its no real secret.. You can't build a successful NHL team in a Salary Cap World by paying 4 X forwards and using up 1/2 your salary cap.

Full stop, end of story.

This team is built for "Entertainment purposes" first and foremost based on high priced talent bringing in high end revenue to be the most profitable NHL team not the the most successful.

Leafs have had a TOUGH TOUGH season. with injuries starting early in the season and continuing to today. Reilly, Edmunson, Marner, Jarnkrok, Samsononv all hurt light night. Liljegren injured 2 times this season. Leafs lost Klingberg early.

Leafs are still a 100pt team.

Lets hope they get healthy come game 1.
