If you want to constantly crap on a player on a message board, regardless of the circumstances, you'd better be prepared for the inevitable backlash when that player does something worthy of praise. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Crying about getting tagged in a post has got to be the "Charmin Soft" play of the year.
I find it very fun and I enjoy the banter but I know I get carried away into trolling territory. My apologies.

Your disdain and passive aggressive comments towards Slaf are tiresome........
You make some good points, but seriously we have to let this kid develop into the player the organization thinks he can be.
You have a ton of knowledge when watching and then discussing the game, but at one point I seriously thought Slaf stole your girlfriend....let's keep it light and agree to disagree at times.

I am holding on to the hope that Slaf becomes a very good NHL player, but he has a ways to go, and when I heard last night, his comment was " to be successful in this league, you have to play like Brady Tkachuk " I was very happy to extend this kid a serious kudos on his willingness to learn his craft.

He's starting to understand his identity. And even though he fought tonight, it has nothing to do with that. He has to win the puck, and then either distribute using his great vision and passing or drive the net with his power. Just keeping his game simple by crashing the crease and keeping plays alive with his reach etc impacts the game in a huge way.

He'll get his looks for one timers and breakaways and all that, but he has to understand that his value as the #1OA pick was in his ability to attack the net, create space, and keep plays alive when they should have been long dead. He's a unicorn for his well-rounded talents. In spite of him never being a 100pt player himself, his intangibles can lead to players like Caufield or Suzuki (or Demidov) reaching that mark.

Keep it up kid!

That being said, the willingness to fight changes his game in the Brady Tkachuk mould.

Leclair was always a load to handle but he was still playing in college at slaf's current age.... just to put things in perspective about how early we are.

Aside from that, leclair was a shooter, and slaf looks like more of a playmaker.
When Leclair was in Montreal he could disappear for long period of time though. Consistency is something he developed with the Flyers. I remember after his great playoffs of 93 the expectation were high the next season and he had a rather disappointing season where he did not make much progress in his game.

Yeah I meant that he was physically strong right from the get go.

Consistency was an issue, but I don't think the Habs really helped him in that regard either.

Getting to play with lindros really took his game to a new level, and he stuck there from the very beginning of his flyer tenure.

interesting , maybe he's not at the right weight?
The way Slaf’s built he his much heavier than other 6’3 guys with the same body fat %. A combination of bone structure with the big upper body and muscle. To ask him to play at 220 when he was sometimes at 235 at 17 is a recipe for disaster. To get him at 220 , like it was rumoured they did, they needed to starve him, dry him up and rob him of his muscle mass. To gain one or two clicks in speed? We need to stop freaking out if he hits 240, 250 or more.

From the moment he stepped onto the ice with Lindros, the guy became a superstar. That's what we've been lacking here... guys who will take other guys to the next level. We've got some good players, but we don't have that crazy superstar who makes everyone better.

so true. Weight can be very deceptive and subjective to body types. I know back in the day Lindros would only get put on a treadmill because he didn't need to get any bigger lol.

Personally not a fan of all this Tkachuk talk, we’re going to force this kid into a crisis of identity

If we just saw his impact level in his prime, he's in the top 50 players in the NHL.
Possible, but we all know there is a road ahead.
There’s skills that Slaf should have that he doesn’t. Demidov and even Sean Monahan are great at using the body to shield the puck when driving the net. Slaf not. He obviously never did the reps. He has lots of work on his plate. This is a power forward’s bread and butter,

Slaf will never be a power forward in that sense. He's a play maker with a big body. When he plays to his size he creates a lot of chaos and gets power forward moments. I think he can play that game given he's in the 1% for size and strength (or will be).

Slaf is a playmaker, he does need to shoot more and he’ll get his share of goals in the future but he’ll use his frame to carry the puck and make plays or help the cycle, not necessarily drive the net.
