interesting , maybe he's not at the right weight? No, he actually lost weight. He was 230 last year and was around 215-220 when he came back after the summer.

if he turned into a Leclair.... that is all this fan base asks
I find it very fun and I enjoy the banter but I know I get carried away into trolling territory. My apologies. If you want to constantly crap on a player on a message board, regardless of the circumstances, you'd better be prepared for the inevitable backlash when that player does something worthy of praise. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Crying about getting tagged in a post has got to be the "Charmin Soft" play of the year.
Your disdain and passive aggressive comments towards Slaf are tiresome........I find it very fun and I enjoy the banter but I know I get carried away into trolling territory. My apologies.
He's starting to understand his identity. And even though he fought tonight, it has nothing to do with that. He has to win the puck, and then either distribute using his great vision and passing or drive the net with his power. Just keeping his game simple by crashing the crease and keeping plays alive with his reach etc impacts the game in a huge way.
He'll get his looks for one timers and breakaways and all that, but he has to understand that his value as the #1OA pick was in his ability to attack the net, create space, and keep plays alive when they should have been long dead. He's a unicorn for his well-rounded talents. In spite of him never being a 100pt player himself, his intangibles can lead to players like Caufield or Suzuki (or Demidov) reaching that mark.
Keep it up kid!
absolutely. I'm just saying I'd rather see him harness his size/strength to product points and not become a performative tough guy. I think he's understanding that nowThat being said, the willingness to fight changes his game in the Brady Tkachuk mould.
When Leclair was in Montreal he could disappear for long period of time though. Consistency is something he developed with the Flyers. I remember after his great playoffs of 93 the expectation were high the next season and he had a rather disappointing season where he did not make much progress in his game.Leclair was always a load to handle but he was still playing in college at slaf's current age.... just to put things in perspective about how early we are.
Aside from that, leclair was a shooter, and slaf looks like more of a playmaker.

The way Slaf’s built he his much heavier than other 6’3 guys with the same body fat %. A combination of bone structure with the big upper body and muscle. To ask him to play at 220 when he was sometimes at 235 at 17 is a recipe for disaster. To get him at 220 , like it was rumoured they did, they needed to starve him, dry him up and rob him of his muscle mass. To gain one or two clicks in speed? We need to stop freaking out if he hits 240, 250 or more.interesting , maybe he's not at the right weight?
From the moment he stepped onto the ice with Lindros, the guy became a superstar. That's what we've been lacking here... guys who will take other guys to the next level. We've got some good players, but we don't have that crazy superstar who makes everyone better.Yeah I meant that he was physically strong right from the get go.
Consistency was an issue, but I don't think the Habs really helped him in that regard either.
Getting to play with lindros really took his game to a new level, and he stuck there from the very beginning of his flyer tenure.

so true. Weight can be very deceptive and subjective to body types. I know back in the day Lindros would only get put on a treadmill because he didn't need to get any bigger lol.The way Slaf’s built he his much heavier than other 6’3 guys with the same body fat %. If we just saw his impact level in his prime, he's in the top 50 players in the NHL.True. If he plays like this all the time we will all be happy.
There’s skills that Slaf should have that he doesn’t. Demidov and even Sean Monahan are great at using the body to shield the puck when driving the net. Slaf not. He obviously never did the reps. He has lots of work on his plate. This is a power forward’s bread and butter,If we just saw his impact level in his prime, he's in the top 50 players in the NHL.
Possible, but we all know there is a road ahead.

Slaf is a playmaker, he does need to shoot more and he’ll get his share of goals in the future but he’ll use his frame to carry the puck and make plays or help the cycle, not necessarily drive the net. There’s skills that Slaf should have that he doesn’t.
