Player Discussion Woll activated from IR Oct 24 2024

Come on, man. You honestly think the New York Rangers, who have more money than the Leafs, are going to let the guy who is probably the best goalie in the league walk away over money? Not a chance in you know what.

As for the Leafs, I doubt they will wait until the playoffs to sign Marner.

I never said that the Rangers would. I'm just saying that if he does make it to free agency, the Leafs have to do everything in their power to try and get him. Or at the absolute very least drive up the price and really make the Rangers pay to resign him. If I'm not mistaken though I think the Rangers have a lot more money tied up in cap space for next season then we do.

Samsonov wasn’t the reason only one goal was scored and if I remember correctly it was a rather poor goal. What effect did not having Woll after him winning game 5 and 6 on the team? Who would you rather have started if you had a choice, Woll or Samsonov?
 
Woll has had issues with groin and hamstrings for a while now it seems. Too tightly wound up?

I thought they had this fixed with proper training etc....but guess not

Someone previous mentioned Timmins was injury prone and cant be trusted. Woll is the same age and has missed alot of games......can we trust him then?
 
I feel for Woll, the guy has all the tools to be a top flight goaltender.

But man, what is up with this guy? IR before first game is just comically sad for a guy who has injury struggles.

If that guy makes it to free agency, you have to think the lineup to sign him would be pretty long.

Overall. I think people need to just take a breath. It’s quite common for guys to tweak little things while ramping up for the season. It’s only a problem if it lingers.

I think it is a problem. From the Marlies; to the Leafs last season until now. Woll has a history of injuries and that is not a good thing. Ian Scott called it quits because of injuries, one has to wonder if Woll will soon follow suit.

Sounds precautionary, and keeping him out of a game or two isn't the end of the world.

He'll have to have a thorough practice to determine if he's salvagable.

Could be overly cautious, long term outlook.

Someone needs to evaluate this guys entire training, preparation routine. If he’s doing something he shouldn’t or not doing something he should. Maybe he’s strengthening the wrong areas and not working the needed ones. It’s like building muscle properly around joints and stretching areas that are prone to tightness.
 
Dregs let it slip on Overdrive yst that this is the same injury he got in the final moments of game 6, he tweaked his lower back. He also mentioned how Woll lifts weights on game day and that maybe that’s not something to do going forward.

Woll is injury prone. We all know that. He will be a solid career backup. He can’t stay healthy enough to even remotely be a starter unfortunately. We need Stolarz and Hilldebeast to step up now.
 
The Joffrey Lupul of goalies by the way it’s going. Don’t think this will ever change with Woll as he’s been a complete bandaid for most of his AHL development which was flat for years.
