I'm not wrong though. You can't possibly prove me wrong. Go ahead try.

What makes Fantilli so special that he's the only player that can produce the way he is in the NCAA?

Is his shot better than everyone on the team? His skating? His stickhandling? Does he just process the game better than everyone else?

What makes him so much better? Please enlighten us.

Because whatever it is, He left it in Michigan.
If what Fantilli was doing wasn’t special, he would be one of the first to do it lol…again, you’re brutal at this

I think a lot of people just look at his stats as a whole and don't realize that he had 11 points in 4 games vs the 52nd and 57th ranked teams in the NCAA (62 total teams). Take away those games and it's 15 points in 12 games, which is still very good for a player in their draft year playing in the Big10, but IMO he wouldn't be getting as much hype if you take away those 4 games.

Some people just stat watch and get really attached to players. You see it all the time. Then they get really defensive when those players come to big tournaments like this and fail to show anything. The opposite happens as well. I'm not saying Fantilli is bad but I think he might be a little bit overrated due to his production compared to other who I think would be making bigger impacts right now.

So in other words you have nothing because all you do is stat watch. Good to know. Onwards to the next game.

Ok there’s a difference between what Fantilli is doing (borderline historic) and trash…and that difference is actually pretty big and it’s where most other players would be

you’re actually brutal at this…just move on. It’s okay to be wrong
Fantilli is having a good season to be sure. But I wouldn't label it as borderline historic. He's 3rd in the NCAA for points (11 G, 15, A, 26 PTS) which is the highest he ranks in any category. And for many stats he's no higher than 5 or 6. Certainly not borderline historic numbers by any stretch.

He's a good player for sure, and I think he'll develop into an excellent NHL center. But labeling the season he's having as borderline historic is far from accurate. And halfway through the Michigan season he's still a ways off from approaching the tops of the Michigan record books.

you’re saying because of 1 game and 3 pre tournament games , he’s overrated and discrediting for all the other things he has done. You’re just a fair weather fan. You’ll be back on the fantilli train when he has 1 good game. You’re on and off the whole time.

Just another fair weather fan . You’re brutal at this .

Historic as a 18 year old freshman. I think only Eichel and Kariya (maybe one other)
Yes, what he’s doing is borderline historic for an 18 year old freshman

Can't really stand all the pre-tournament hype. Best team in almost 20 years, generational etc.
My ideal scenario as a Canadian is typically that Canada needs to lose, maybe even a couple of games, ideally only in the round robin to shut everyone up and then grind their way through close games to the GMG.

This enough for you lol

It’s game 1 and the Czechs are an extremely formidable opponent.

I do think Canada needs to tweak their lines a bit. The top line needs a worker and the Stankoven-Fantilli combo seems to clash stylistically.

Good game Czechia! Love the upsets and close games that should be blowouts (Austria - USA) that happened today. So much more fun. Sometimes the best thing for your team is to hear another teams anthem.

I'm sure Eichel and the other hyped ncaa prospect also produced a lot more against the bad teams than the good teams

I thought the three best players on the ice were Svozil, Jiricek, and Suchanek. Really, really good effort from the Czech team.

Conflicted on the Dean call. To me it was too weak for a match penalty. Pretty routine play and caught him a little high… I think 2 would have been just fine.
Dean’s skates clearly left the ice. A no brainer. But true, it was no brutal intentional career ending faul.

im sorry canadian fans, but i really enjoy when this happens....i love you all and your country but its amazing how the "theme" around this team will now change all the way up to the gold medal game, in which the team will be once again hyped as one of the top teams canada has ever had.
exactly.

and it's on TSN, they will push any good canadian hockey story narrative ad nauseam.

Let’s admit it. For once it proved that hits to the head don’t pay in hockey any more. Instead of brutality and intimidation, lets play hockey.

You see @Czechboy comes correct. Takes the win, doesn't overplay his hand.

This TC is a monster on paper. This might be exactly what they needed to put their asses in line.

Maybe they keep shitting the bed but I wouldn't bet on it. I know I wouldn't want to be their next opponents.

PS to those shitting on Fantili as a prospects based on his first U20 Championship game as a D-1 player - these posts won't age well!
He’s a late birthday so hes the same age as a few players and older than players like Bedard, so expectations should be higher.

Look what Lafreniere did in his “D-1” in the same situation.

It’s also not just this one game, it’s every game I’ve seen of his. Just bonehead plays that really hurt the team

Let’s admit it. For once it proved that hits to the head don’t pay in hockey any more. Instead of brutality and intimidation, lets play hockey.
What?

That Czech goalie (don’t wanna insult him with a butchering of his name) was stellar. Canada looked like shit for most of the game. Bedard was our most impactful skater.

Above all else that penalty on good ol Newf Dean was absolute garbage

Let’s admit it. For once it proved that hits to the head don’t pay in hockey any more. Instead of brutality and intimidation, lets play hockey.

You don’t actually think it was a hit to the head?
