Well, the game is not over, 9 minutes left. And this American team DOES have the firepower to score two goals in half a period if they can start clicking.

Why is it that I think Erik Johnson has passed Phil Kessel in this tournament?

And the US $ucks chants games before Johnson even touched Downie came from where?

They were referring to the hockey team. It's a sporting event. Is this really that difficult a concept to get hold of?

I am an american who LOVES Canada because of your love and passion for the game. I root for all the canadian teams in the NHL and always root for Canada unless they play the USA. I just dont get the hate some canadians have for the USA. Is it that we stole some of your NHL teams? Is it money? What is it....I will continue to root for the canadian teams but its just strange to me how some of you choose who to root for.

Like you nadians never saw a elbow before really man you cheer bertuzzi for his actions and boo a kid for a bad play which the other kid got up a skated away. (you guys crack me up with your double standards)

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness man ;)

Good luck. Come on. You'll be cheering for the Fins.

True, we probably will be cheering for the Finns. They're a small nation with a limited number of artificial rinks and fewer players than some Canadian provinces. Their teams play with heart, desire and passion. They take and give clean hits. They usually get the most out of their talent. Their fans are generally courteous and inciteful. What's not to like about them?

If your think there's an implied contrast with any other team or fans, you're reading it into my statement.

This forum is full of poor winners and losers.

To the USA fans: For the first time your team was favorites and now you know what it is like to have everyone gunning to beat you. No one wants you to win because you are supposed to. However, there is one way to shut them up. WIN.

To the Canadian fans: We have not won anything yet. Look at Brent Sutter, do you hear him trash talk. No, he wins with class.

It is a shame that America had too play so many games in such a small period but remember it is no shame to lose too the Russians which along with America were the favorites for the Gold.........I see nothing to change that prediction....the 2 best teams were playing tonight and fortunately for Russia, they were well rested in comparison to the US....

It should be a great game on Thursday as you can never go wrong with a Canada/Russia final...........

Because you have been paying attention. Ej is already better than Luc Bourdon and Marc Staal, in my opinion.

If they haven't started clicking by now... lol

Oy. :shakehead

All the fans cheering so hard for the Russians, it's almost like bad karma. THIS is who you guys get to play. If I was Canadian I would have rather played the Americans, I think it would have been an easier win.

Well the constant booing doesn't really stop the perception of the Canadians hating the US.

Nor do the people responsible for the goal horns and music at GM Place. How unusual that, in an international tourney, the host arena choses to use the NHL Team's goal horn to celebrate the goal scoring by one country's team over another?
Not to mention playing celebratory music when one team (Russia) scores over another (USA).
It is one thing to have the fans chose sides and cheer for one international rival over the other, but to have the arena personal actively involved in backing that choice seems to go against the sense of "fair play" so touted by the IIHF.

Ding ding ding.

Russia looks like a strong team, Canada will be in tough on thursday. Nothing has been won yet.

I guess I'm the only one who heard the cheering when Skille made it 2-1. :dunno: This booing/cheering thing is getting blown out of proportion. The fans are boing Johnson but aside from that they're just cheering goals, big hits and good plays. Russia happens to have had a lot more of those than the US in this game.

Gah, turnovers. :-/

Big disappointment with the amount of talent this team had.

Good luck to Canada tomorrow, you're going to need it.

Exactly... Cause if it were simply "USA are our rivals" then once then USA is iliminated, you have rooting interest in the Bronze Metal game.
