Word during the draft was that Sandin-Pellika was gonna be our guy at the draft if Wings hadn't drafted him just one spot ahead.

There's only two people who know what really happened.

I think the Latvian was going down anyways and that the light push of the Swede's stick to the lower back which said stick rode up higher but did not touch the upper back completed the fall.
In other words it wasn't even an NHL penalty.

That was totally an nhl penalty if the refs needed to cover the spread

Don't tell Habs fans, they think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I wasn’t opposed to the Jets taking a flyer on him, and he still might be worth it. The offence is there, though I’m not sure if it’ll translate to the NHL or not, but he is either completely clueless in his own end, or doesn’t care to try. Guy makes Sami Niku look like prime Chris Pronger in the D-zone.

Is Brad Lambert too old for the World Juniors? Up until 5 days ago he was 19 years old.

Yeah, Mike Johnson described it pretty well as it was being reviewed. The IIHF punishes the act and not the result; the NHL on the other hand punishes based on the result and not the act itself.

Nope. Punishing by result would imply way more consistency than DOPS has. Look at the KFC incident.

He is too old. You have to turn 20 in the year the tournament ends to be eligible. Or be younger of course.

Dang. Too bad. Sounds like he was only born a couple weeks early from being able to participate. I would have liked to have finally seen him on the top line in Finland after years of him being somewhat snake bitten by the team’s management/coaching staff.

It sucks, cuz I’m sure there are dozens of players in the tournament that are only a couple weeks younger than Lambert, but I guess the line has to be drawn somewhere.

IMO There’s always been a strong argument for players born later in the year to defer their draft eligible status to the following year given the advantages an 18 year old (born in January) has over a 17 year old born in the same year, but in December.

Thanks for answering!

First Spengler Cup Game was a 4:0 win for Canada vs Frölunda. Milic didn't start as Aaron Dell played. I therefore expect Milic to play vs Davos tomorrow.

Speaking of swedish players that get a 5 minutes major for boarding: Carl Klingberg got one very early to make sure Canada got a cruising start.

Honestly I find games vs teams like Latvia unwatchable even when I am bored.
