Because it's a given and something we see every year.I'm wondering why nobody is talking about Russian discipline and dirty work?

Stop pretending that what I'm saying is not 100% correct! In the 10 year decade between 2011-2020, the tournament will have been held in Canada or Buffalo, which is a suburb of Toronto on the Canadian border and where Canadian fans overwhelm even the local American fans (who are largely apathetic to its existence), 7 of 10 times, or 70% of the time. The Americans are a little better equipped to cope with the competitive imbalance, because they don't have to cross the ocean to compete. I look at last year, when Sweden seemed to clearly be the better team, and yet somehow lost because of what unbiasd eyes viewed as "environmental factors." Blame the irrelevance of this tournament outside of Canada on the destruction of competitive balance by corporate greed on the part of the Canadian television network TSN, Hockey Canada and the IIHF. It has been reduced to positioning for the NHL draft.

As a Canadian, I do hope they continue to rely on their prowess at 4 on 5 hockey. Good luck with that.
No discipline whatsoever.
They have talent, showed desire when on the ropes, and continued to be stupid about their anger issues.
Butt end? Hilarious that he thought it would fly.
If Russia can't tone down the stupid they're toast. Otherwise....if they can find discipline, it should be a great match-up.
I'm old enough to remember them kicking people with their skates quite clearly. I remember BC's ankle biter. I also remember Mark Messier laying a forehead wide open for emphasis. It was a little late (a few years) but very effective. The dirt is old with the Russians.
A Russian victory over Team Canada is still better than a Swedish one. The Russians fight for it.
Yes, as compared to honest, hard working, humble Canadian boys
I'm not bad mouthing Russian hockey but there are certain constants we see from Russia at the WJR's :
1) Lots of cheap shots;
2) Lots of dirty stick work;
3) Lots of gloating after they win.
It is what it is.
We seem to have worked out pretty well as your neighbor all these years.Yes, as compared to honest, hard working, humble Canadian boys![]()
I don't think Canadians or Americans gloat after they win - also, they may be rough / tough, but I don't see dirty stick work from the North American teams.Yes, as compared to honest, hard working, humble Canadian boys![]()
Well in all fairness a guy like Bobby Clarke is always going to spring to Russian fans mind, can't say I blame them.I don't think Canadians or Americans gloat after they win - also, they may be rough / tough, but I don't see dirty stick work from the North American teams. Maybe I'm missing it.
Yes, there were players like Steve Downie, but they are the exception.
Of course. But, again, that was a long time ago.Well in all fairness a guy like Bobby Clarke is always going to spring to Russian fans mind, can't say I blame them.
True, it was a long time ago. Still, it's going to be something that always sticks out for them.Of course. But, again, that was a long time ago.
I’m really interested in exactly what you’re referring to.I've read one page and Canadians are being annoying af again about hockey.![]()

Can you blame us? we've got the usual suspect ruining the gdt before the game even begins spouting off conspiracy nonsense.I've read one page and Canadians are being annoying af again about hockey.![]()
So you read a thread where a Russian poster claimed that Canada only wins because of "environmental factors" and you logical conclusion is Canadians are the ones being annoying? Says more about you then anyone else to be honest.I've read one page and Canadians are being annoying af again about hockey.![]()

Which doesn't mean much...Maybe Canada is just the greatest hockey nation in the world and that’s why we win.
I didn't say anything about Canadians. There are dumb people in every part of the world but when you got someone spouting off ludicrous conspiracy theories and you say Canadian fans are the ones looking bad in this thread....Yeah there are only like two options for you but I will refrain from laying it on that thick.Don't get offended just tell us more about those hard-working, humble, honest Canadian boys.![]()
Must have been directed at me.Don't get offended just tell us more about those hard-working, humble, honest Canadian boys.![]()
if I were you I would concentrate on how your good old boys do against the finns tonight, would be time better spent for you.Don't get offended just tell us more about those hard-working, humble, honest Canadian boys.![]()
Must have been directed at me.
I stand by it : North American players handle themselves really well at the World Juniors and on the international stage.
I'm not convinced of this, if we continue to make some of the decisions we have been making on defense and as a team in general the Russians will catch us on odd man rushes and burn us...................................they don't miss on them very often.This is one of the weakest Russian team I have seen in 30 some years at the U20, and with Canada at home on the small ice I don't expect a close game. Dump and chase, cycling the puck along the boards game should be too much for the Russians.
