Only watched a tiny bit, but lots of Flyers fans don't like Frost on the wing especially since in Jr, he plays C when they have him and Hayton on the same line.

How was he tonight?

He was solid, not outstanding just a solid game though. I liked that line tonight.

Yep was solid enough. Hes not going to play center over Hayton because hes not a strong 2 way player though. If he couldnt switch to wing he likely doesnt make the team

Merkley plays better with better players. His vision would be unparalleled on this team, and playing with the best U-20 Canadians would only create better chances. His D game isn't great, but his offensive makes up for it and then some.
Yep. BUt he's not a good ol boy like Team Canada likes.

Dobson looked really impressive tonight. I was at the game I really enjoyed it. I managed to catch games 1 and 2 vs USports as well. Frost and Lafrenière are going to be real difference makers up front I think. Dobson and Smith look real solid on D.

Have any1 review the play of the forwards on TC (TC vs Swiss game, okay). I agree with the hockeyanalyst99. Lafreniere looked a little slower than the other TC forwards. He does not seem to be as effective as the other forwards. Please review the WHOLE GAME BEFORE YOU COMMENT. It is really Pejorative Slured when you say something without watching the game in details.
Any1 has the game recording, please advise.

Dobson? Really? I think almost everyone on here thought he was pretty bad tonight

Was at the game. A few of the D (most notably #6 McIsaac?) looked slow. I saw a lot of watching the play develop around them and not moving in time to intercept the play. Too many swipes at the puck and not enough making the clean play and taking the body. The Canadian team looked like they expected to whip the puck around and then score. They will need to focus on individual battles and making the hard/safe play rather than tic tac toe their way to victory. This game should not have been close and if the Canadian team had stuck to what got them the 4 - 1 lead it would have been a blow out.

Last year team beat the Swiss 8-1 in the exhibition game, the defense for this year is slower and not as physical. I have stated earlier ' they better clear up their defensive play in the neutral zone and defensive zone.

I hope Scott is as good as I think he is
Ah yes there it is I wondered why you were so negative towards Dipietro right from the get go. Makes alot of sense now.

Judging a goalie based on 2 periods is a hilarious measure. Especially blaming him for the first goal. The leaf fan militia will be out in full force this tournament i see.

Dipietro moves incredibly well and is a very confident young man. He knows how to win the big one. Hope both goalies push one another.

Some pretty wild overeactions in this thread, not every team is the same its the first exibition game. Adjustments will ne made thats literally the point of this game to see what works and what doesnt.

While you are not wrong with your assessment, this is a very short tournament. Recency bias is unfortunately very prominent. There isnt a lot of time to prepare your roster, thus meaning one bad game can really impact your role. Team Canada coaches dont have the luxury of waiting for Dipietro to figure things out, its a moving train and players need to jump on.

We havnt seen Scott, so really the verdict is out. However what we do know is that Dipietro let in 3 on 17 shots. Lets see what Scott has.

What? I didn't blame him for either of the first two goals. I just think he had a poor showing. Hoping for Scott to be good is pretty reasonable, so relax

While I won't judge DiPietro's overall quality based on that game, I would be willing to bet it didn't enhance his chances of being the starter. In a short tournament, teams rely on their goalie; all of the Swiss goals were stoppable and teams that aren't scoring in bunches need those kinds of saves in tournaments. Saves on the first two goals would have been classified as 'big' saves, but you need big saves to win championships.

I've only seen Scott and DiPietro this last week - at the final USports game Friday and yesterday. DiPietro comes across as the more athletic guy, and Scott strikes me as the one who uses sound positioning and size to make saves. Scott strikes me as the guy who reads the play better, but that is a sample size issue.

When it comes down to who is the starter at the end of the day, it wouldn't surprise me to see Hunter leaning to Scott, because he would have seen him a lot more and be more familiar with his work, so DiPietro didn't help his cause with that game last night. Yes, you would expect coaches to have a broader view, but human beings will do what human beings do, and we all carry biases. I hope he gives DiPietro another start to give him the chance to redeem himself.

I just want the better goalie to play and I want it to be a competition because that breeds quality. Thats really all I was saying, I just noticed certain posters on Dipietro right after the first goal and did not relent. I dont really understand this thinking but I think some posters believe that if they say something enough on HF boards that it will come true. Which is strange because you would think they would be cheering for Canada no matter who is playing well because the common goal is to win the gold. I have had the opportunity to watch Dipietro a few times he is a very very very good goalie, I was at two of his three shut out streak during the teddy bear toss and boy you could tell he wanted it. I watched Dipietro stand on his head at the Memorial cup and just recently watched him in his first game for the 67's where he was very very good. So in my opinion from what I have seen he has the ability to raise his game when the pressure is on an exibition game isnt a pressure cooker and the goals in my opinion werent his fault especially the first one. I havent seen Scott as much but I really dont personally care who is the goalie just whoever is playing best, I want gold! Wont happen without good goaltending.
