Not so fast...

Scott plays for a dominant team in the Dub'...

Not sure this will be solid for this tournament no matter who is in net...

I think the Canadian team defense must evolve each game in order to counter this problem....

Or we will have a team that wins Corsi, but loses the S'Corsi...

Enough with this. The team is dominant because of players like Ian Scott. Check out his backups numbers.

What makes PA so dominant? Ian Scott, Brett Leason....and?

First goal he mishandled the puck right to the guy in the slot who scored. Bouchard also go turned inside out on the 2nd PP which could have been a scoring chance against a team with more skill.
I was talking about Studnicka not Bouchard

Good push by Switzerland after down, sleepy third for Canada. Plenty of things to work on and several things that looked good. Looking forward to the upcoming pre-tournament games.

Scott plays a pretty large role in said best team in the CHL.

Don't disagree large role on BEST team...

Not sure if on a hand grenade team how he will perform...

Hand grenade team is what this years version of Team Canada is...

Explosive on offense and transition...

Land-Mine'ish in their own end a gap control until otherwise proven...

Scott... is unproven in hardship sit's...

Its the first pre tournament game.. they need to clean it up .. all over the place. Give them all at least another game before calling for substitutions.. take a breath.. on to the next game to see how they do.

Strong math

I am a big Dub' fan...

Don't disagree on local success...

But WJC is a pressure cooker...

I guess Scott will get his chance next game...

I hope you are right...

Hope Scott stones all competition...

Just scouts I follow don't see this as a strong year for Canada... I hope they are wrong also...

I think Brook was really bad tonight though. Hopefully Hunter will make adjustments with him playing on his off side and doesn't stay married to the idea.

I'm a wings fan so mostly paid attention to Veleno and McIsaac and then focused on the D mostly besides that when I was watching.

Didnt really love anyone on the defense. I dont know how people can have an issue with McIsaacs game after watching Dobson and Brook tonight. McIsaac was middle of the pack and I'll bet he isnt the 7th D by the end of the tournament. Phillips very meh. Hes a very safe player I guess, but very much an off the glass and out type or ring it around the boards type which I dont love. Brook wasnt good either, a few bad pinches. The first goal was pretty a weak play from Bouchard but I liked his game after that. I think the pairings will get jumbled a bit for the next game.

Watching Veleno, I didnt mind that fourth line. They rarely had the puck in their own end but Entwhistle doesnt look like hes going to do much offensively. Veleno looked pretty shifty out there at times and I think the idea of switching him and JAD could work. The fourth line was fast and forechecked well though.

Some forwards I noticed. Tippett is a shooter which we've all heard but man even tonight on the PP if he had the puck and wasnt shooting, the pass wasnt going on someones tape. Sooooo one dimensional. I liked the top line obviously. Hayton was strong but at times I found he was trying to be too fancy which likely wont work against the stronger teams

Merkley plays better with better players. His vision would be unparalleled on this team, and playing with the best U-20 Canadians would only create better chances. His D game isn't great, but his offensive makes up for it and then some.

Is that why he was just traded for essentially a bag of pucks in the OHL? Merkley would've made this look way worse tonight

I'm not sure where you're going with your comment but I think it's clear that having a mobile, smart, defensively responsible LHD that can play in the top 4 over McIsaac and Brook on his off side would have been a safer choice.

I like Joseph too; the comment was just about it being 1 pre tournament game ... and a lot of things have to get better

I agree. But we know what we're getting with McIsaac. And it forces the team to play a RHD on the left. It was an unnecessary risk when there was a player suited for the role at the teams disposal.

I hope Phillips or McIsaac step up though.

Only watched a tiny bit, but lots of Flyers fans don't like Frost on the wing especially since in Jr, he plays C when they have him and Hayton on the same line.

How was he tonight?
