Better than yesterday, which is expected given the team, but still not great.

Feels like we should be scoring more than 2 against this Latvian team.

Ok period. But team Canada needs to tighten up how they play.

They're expected to dominate this one. So treat it as a warm up for the next one. Execute they plays and do the little things that will tip the scale in the next games. Start building good habits

Canada is still working through some chemistry issues and a couple guys gripping the stick a bit tight but overall a lot of positives, fairly encouraging for early tournament play. The D pairs seemed to have sorted themselves out quick which is huge. I just wish this team would stop turning back when leaving their zone. So many turnovers or rushed plays as they let the other teams get set and reestablish a forecheck

He just looks completely different from how he has at the NHL level.

Have you played experienced competition on IIHF ice... ?

I have... practiced extensively on it as well...

As a kid I can remember hosting opposition not used to it against our team...

We almost always kicked the living shit out of the "Newbies" to International ice..

Your decision making in space gets f'd with... especially in the face of transition/turnover...

Different mind set with uncertain puck possession situations...

Reactions: Dominance
I'm definitely not seeing an NHLer there, but obviously that's wrong. Maybe just not a lot of chemistry with that line?

They had a nice early shift with Cowan and Savoie playing off one another low on the forecheck, Poitras was involved too. Since then though, every time it seems they gain the zone and Poitras is not moving the puck to anyone on his team other than Nelson on one pinch.

Offensively it's already been said here by you guys but the thing I love even better about him is how aware defensively the guy is, he is always ready to shift at the first notice the puck is turned over and is going the other way, he never commits so much offensively that he ever ends out of the play so much that he cant or wont get back to take his man, it is really rare for a young centre who is so offensively gifted, that part of the game is just not usually there at this stage and sometimes never for those guys.

What a great young player.

Fine enough period for Canada, important game for building chemistry and seeing what works. besides picking up a few points in the period Celebrini really stands out as clearly the most talented player on the team. Passing, stickhandling, receiving passes etc. he's very important to this team. Plays responsible hockey too.
