and as a D man, what were you looking for? Ideally you can gap the puck carrying forward across and let the off d take the other forward but the Latvian ran interference to take that away.. ...you are still left with two one on ones. I've seen much worse.

He pivoted the wrong way well before that rather than staying with his man which allowed the man to get space for the shot

Agree, but jokes aside I don’t think he plays this way in the NHL. He has the tools to stick IMO

It is a bit weird to see Canada beating Latvia with the help of "questionable" reffing. I see it is summer but come on, the penalties were quite ridiculous.

Didn't think it was allowed by IIHF to have a Canadian ref for a game by Team Canada, especially when we're playing in Canada.

But I guess it's no surprise that Hockey Canada has no shame, considering.

Do we have any idea what flex Bedard uses, anyway? Can't be too high.

It's the subtle moves, pulling it into or away from his feet, and getting a rocket off his stick regardless of placement that's impressive. His flex is irrelevant.

Keep in mind he's 180 lb. Not exactly a weakling at this level.

Johnson has looked like best player overall from Canada so far even though he is not in score sheet yet. Johnson gives strong potential Panarin vibes. I've liked Stankoven and Bedard too.

McTavish has been just solid. Nothing spectacular or flashy but doing as expected/needed.

Feels like such a poor way to use him, I have never once seen him play that spot in the WHL lol.

Thing is, I imagine they wanted to use the bumper play more with him but Latvia is not giving an inch of space in the slot so instead he's just there as a screen which is just hilarious
