GDT: [WJC] Latvia vs. Canada, 6pm EST 10/8/22

So smug. You're awesome man. Really making it enjoyable to post around here and discuss the game.
There was nothing smug about me saying he had the most ice time with an lolmixed in but you took it like a champ and called out my contribution to the thread

After reading all those cryings and whinings around facebook
for Canadian fans after IIHF worlds gold medal game small / minor trolling
is needed and very welcome in here. Canadians should finally take brains out of their asses and realize
that always when you put your stick opposite players skates / legs IT IS 9 / 10 times 2min minor penalty
no matter what rulebook referees are using.

High sticked with his own stick.

I don’t know what’s so difficult in admitting you got the benefit of some timely officiating mistakes.

It happens.

You feel bad for an entire fanbase because one prospect had one mediocre game?

lol ok guy, try harder.
When the Wings could have gotten Wallstedt - yeah, I feel bad.
Cossa has a weak mental game and doesn't show up during big moments. He crumbles.
That's what I have seen since his draft. I'm sorry if that upsets you - but I feel bad for the Wings fanbase,

It doesn't upset me at all, Cossa is a great goalie prospect. The fact that you hate the team that drafted him isn't going to change my mind on that.

If we're only judging off of laughably small sample sizes, Cossa had a better game than Wallstedt.

Where have I ever said that I hated the Red Wings? If anything I feel sympathy for the team. You know like a little brother who just injured his elbow? There is a reason that Cossa was the third string on the December WJC team and will end up being the third string on this WJC team. He lacks mental toughness at this stage in his career. It speaks volumes when an Undrafted Goalie and a 4th-round goalie are ahead of the 15th overall pick goalie on your roster....

Best goalie in the Memorial Cup and led his team to a championship in the WHL. What a bum.

Hilarious telling the Wings made a massive mistake when neither have played a second of NHL games yet

Also aren’t you a Sens fan? Why exactly are you calling the Wings, Nevermind almost any franchise your “little brother” when THAT is the team you cheer for?

Best goalie yet his team was the first eliminated?

Elite level goaltending there.

Also, where did I say the Red Wings made a "massive mistake"? I said I felt bad because the Wings could have gotten Wallstedt. I would appreciate it if you actually read what I said before becoming irrationally angry.

I digress, don't want to hurt any more fragile egos. Off to he German thread.

You are proving with comments like this that you hate the Red Wings, it isn't in any way a secret. You are going absurdly far out of your way to try to bash a young prospect who has had an excellent development thus far.

You can keep saying he is bad, doesn't make it true. Just had a big win for Canada, stopped three breakaways, and played better than Wallstedt did, the guy you keep comparing him to.

Again, just try harder, your feeble attempts to convince the world he's a bad prospect simply aren't working.

You’ve said you feel sorry for us and we’re like your “little brother” because we might have maybe possibly made a bad choice we won’t know about for years. This coming from a guy who cheers for a team who just selected Tyler Boucher in last years draft 😂

If you don’t think Cossa was a top goalie in the Memorial Cup then you weren’t watching the games, and that’s undeniable.

Good riddance.

Ah yes - this one is Cossa's knight in shining armor! I'm sure he appreciates you defending him like this!

His save percentage this year was the lowest in his entire career with Edmonton. Can't beat out Garand and Brochu even though he was Mr 15th overall pick in his last year of WJC eligibility. This isn't the first time he was terrible at playing for Canada on the international stage. Was the first team eliminated in the Memorial Cup. Meanwhile, Jesper Wallstedt just put up phenomenal numbers in the SHL (A MENS league) where he helped Lulea to the SHL final where he fell just short after 17 outstanding games in the playoffs.

Cossa's underwhelming preformace today is just another on a long list of underwhelming performances. He was out of position all night, was giving up loads of rebounds and just looked shaky from the get go. Bad game from Cossa. Detroit should have Selected Dylan Garand instead, he will start for Team Canada and was CHL goalie of the year (Well Deserved too)

How’s Tyler Boucher working out for team USA? Maybe the Sens should have chose…. Literally anyone else in the first three rounds with their 10th overall pick? I feel so bad for our big brother Sens

Ugh poor Cossa and his .913sv%, so poor. So awful leading his team to the WHL championship too. Should relinquish his rights.

I thought I’d be able to have a civilized debate - but alas you have resorted to childish tactics.

This thread Isn’t about the US, nor Boucher so if you want to have a conversation about him. Here is the thread you can go to in order to talk about him.

That .913 is quite substantially lower than his 17 and 18 year old stats. I think it’s a genuine concern for Cossa given how highly regard he is. Usually you’d want to see his stats stay the same or get better in a players 19 year old season - espessially given how good a team Edmonton was this year. Why aren’t you concerned about the drop off in in stats from his 17 and 18 year old seasons?

Also why aren’t you worried about his international resume? It’s concerning in my opinion he has consistently struggled when playing in the biggest moments on the international stage. He looked real shaky today, how did you think he played?

No need for the childish “Detroit should renounce his rights“ statement.

TSN's stance on this whole thing is so f***ing stupid. Show all the games, but intentionally do a shitty job of it. Wouldn't want to lose some time from SC Plays of the month from January.

Meh, it's understandable. They're fulfilling their legal obligations to air the tournament while keeping their own promotion of Hockey Canada to a minimum. From what I heard, they considered not even airing it.

“Civilized debate” coming from a guy who started this by saying the Wings are like his “little brother who scraped his elbow”

Of course his stats dropped from last season. He played a whopping 19 games on a team that lost TWO games the entire year. It was literally impossible for his stats to drop without having the greatest goaltending season in CHL history.

His international resume consists of what, 3.5 games so far? Hell of a sample size you’ve got going.

He wasn’t great this game, but certainly not bad when you only let in two goals.

You’ve made it very evident all you’ve done is stat watch with zero context.

From what I’ve read on the Red Wings form. There are quite a few posters who agree that the Wings should have selected Wallstedt who has the better international resume, and he played much better against Men than Cossa did against boys.

Either way - have a good night and Go Canada! (But Canada with Garand in net:laugh::sarcasm:)

Yeah it happens but so what?
You guys were whining after IIHF worlds gold medal game referees favorited Finland.
But that officiating wasn't worse what's happened IIHF worlds last years.

Here's worst reffing in IIHF worlds ever.

Wanna cry more?

Really bad missed calls and even worse calls that were not actual penalties. Overall just awful job by the refs in that video you shared.
