GDT: WJC: Germany - Sweden

I’d like to see Carlsson make his passes a little softer for his shooters. He’s lasered a number of passes that were great ideas but just a little too hard for the shooter to get his stick on.

We’re holding onto it.

That 5on3 kill was HUGE

Both NHL drafted players for Germany showing that they were drafted for a reason.

Lutz has looked great and dangerous and Quapp so far has been a wall. Great to see.

Crowd with a loud applause as Germany kills off a 5-on-3 and keeps it a 1-0 hockey game against Sweden.

And I must say my lord Isak Rosen looks good, future NHL’er for sure.

Can Germany come back and pull an upset!? Fingers crossed baby come on.

(Im in the building by the way)

Obviously not but it's a very good D core. Jiricek and Svozil would make any team in this tourney IMO. Spacek and Hamara would have shots too as outsiders.

Czechs simply aren't used to good D cores at this tourney... I'm so used to seeing future NHL goalies like Vladar, Vanecek, Vejmleka, Dostal and Mrazek getting absolutely lit up on tic tac toe passes and some elite Swede or Canuck just tapping it in. That didn't happen once last night and that is so rare to see.

The nice thing is that next year's D core should be pretty good too! And 2 years from now, no joke, we'll have Svozil and Jiricek again! Along with another Galvas who is trending beautifully. Add in Dvoark and Koci and we may have a better D core in 2 years.

Next year should see Alscher and Hamara playing big minutes which isn't a bad start at all.
Svozil and Jiricek won't be eligible next year they are 2003 players

Germany really putting their hearts into the game. That Swedish 2men PP was well defended, but at the same time, the Swedes were playing it poorly. There was zero moment of surprise.

I said 2 years from now...

Stan has a brother named David Svozil who is very good
David has a brother named Adam Jiricek who might be better
Jakub Galvas (Hawks) has a brother named Tomas Galvas who might better than all of them.

No joke.

Tomáš Galvas is a terrific prospect. He is of course very young, so hard to predict anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is a top NHL defenseman in 4-5 years.
