What did he do?

The Finnish player had passed the puck off and was watching it go when Mueller skated by him and stuck out his elbow a bit, caught the guy in the head. It wasn't a really hard elbow but it was pointless because he stuck it out well after the guy had gotten rid of the puck.

I can understand young kids getting embarrased and losing control of their emotions which can lead to questionable actions. My problem is that the Americans haven't played with any emotion all tournament so why try to make a statement late. At least lose with some class.

Why would the U.S.A. stoop to throwing cheap shots in the last 5-10 minutes of games? Why are they not instead focussing on trying to score a goal, to make it a 1-goal game? If they could score one goal, then they pull their goaltender, and anything can happen after that.

They have the talent to score a goal. But it seems like they don't have the heart or the confidence to score a goal. So they play dirty.

Here's the damn "na na na" chants, I hope to god Vancouver doesn't get this tournament again for a long time.

Maybe it's because the Vancouver fans were disappointed by Jack Johnson's stunt? Maybe because the US was supposed to be Canada's biggest rival?

Why the sour grapes about some booing and "na na na" chants? From the sounds of this Mueller incident, the US team just might deserve what they're getting.

Definitely don't deserve it. I feel bad they've made Canada look bad because a lot of Canadians here have even said it's ridiculous. It's unfortunate.

Imagine what it will be like with the Olympics in a few years. :shakehead

It's not like these guys know about the soft lumber trade. This seems more political that anything else and it sucks.

I can only hope Vancouver doesn't do this crap again during the Olympics..
Yet another black mark against that so called hockey city.

I'd actually prefer Vancouver didn't have the Olympics so they don't disgrace the rest of Canada like this.

Makes me sick.

Those "overrated" chants are very not nice, but the US players aren't nice neither. They started crap against Russia and now here again.. :shakehead

Classy that crowd is...like they really care about Finland. I'm sorry for the good Canadian fans being represented by a bunch of morons.

So, just because they dont cheers for the USA, they are morons ? Way to go.

Wow, Finland has five medals in the last six years. Most of it thanks to great goaltending (Lehtonen, Toivonen, and Rask have won medals in that span).

A medal with this team and especially with this D. Just unbelievable.

Great effort by the whole team today. Especially when Finland played big portion of the game with only four D men.

:shakehead I thought we weren't allowed to bring this up in these threads anymore? It's coming off completely vindicative now.

Sarcastic wave by Johnson to the crowd. But if you're accusing the crowd of lacking class, same can be said for JJ there. But I like it, he's giving it right back, and that's great to see in a player. Awesome tournament for him, he has real character.

Props to Finland, playing with four defensemen, and still pulling out the win. They really wanted it.

Well, time for another self evaluation by USA Hockey.

This truely has been disappointing and I can only take solace in the fact that the U.S. will return many of their leading players (heck we all now know Kessel has no business in the NHL next year!) and should contend for a medal.

I wonder if the USA Hockey brass now realize the mistake they made in leaving Yandle and Sauer off the team!

I questioned many of the selections of this team before the tournament started, and I still question them now.

But I don't know if I have ever seen a team that talented play that poorly in a world junior tournament. The USA put on a clinic for how not to play as a team. It's not just that they lost (although that is a choke job, dissapointment, etc). It's how they lost that gets me. I'm proud of a team that loses but works hard and plays clean. I am not proud of this team.

This wouldn't bother me if it was USA's national team, but these kids are still teens. Would you ever go to your son's house league or competitive game and taunt the other kids playing against your son?

It is out of hand, but what can you do?

I certainly have disliked the way the people in Vancouver have acted during this tournament.

They can cheer for who they want to, but they made it more political than anything. These guys aren't politicians, they're hockey players.

I can deal with good natured ribbing, but this wasn't really good natured ribbing, in my opinion.
