We've seen this from other 17 year olds. he'll be fine.
I guess what makes it worse is he's being outperformed by another projected 1st overall pick from another draft class. If Bedard wasn't in this tourney I don't think we'd have expected as much from Wright.

Not all 1st rounders are equal. Bedard and michov would be ahead of him in this draft, maybe even dvorsky.

Likely the top 5 would be ahead of him, if you haven't seen Fantili and Yager.

Next year will be a Canadian fest, with Benson and Heidt likely to go top 15 as well.

Relax a bit. It's Austria. Let's see how things go versus the big boys.

During the exhibition game vs Russia last week everyone was going on about how Michkov was heads and shoulders ahead of Bedard. This board can be extremely reactionary.

I'm quite relaxed, thanks for your concern though. I do know it is Austria. I also do know that both Wright and Bedard were playing in the same game against Austria. So it isn't far fetched to want to make a direct comparison between the two.

Wright is a very smart 2-way center, you won't see the value of such a player too much in a blowout. Wright was deserving of a few assists tonight but he just didn't get the finish by others players.

+ a virtual assist on Bourque's goal by pulling the whole D to him.

Different players, different roles on this team. You could also say that Wright's playing center with more responsibilities and Bedard (a center) is playing the wing. There's a reason the coaches kept Wright in the middle.

In any event, this isn't a game where you can truly assess or compare players. They're not playing against a legit opponent. Players aren't even smiling after goals.

Bedard is a magician and everyone knew he'd thrive against this opponent. Knocking Wright is silly as he's made some nice plays this game and as I mentioned has a different role.

Yeah that's fair, looking forward to seeing more of Wright as the Tourney progresses. I'm sure they'll both be good players. I just want the Habs to end up with a great one.

I think the main takeaway from the 2022 draft is how we'll get no help from it the following season, no one is NHL ready in it, not even Wright.

Jiricek should be sent to the WHL.
Nemec in Sweden
Savoie needs to train.
Geekie needs to skate.
Cooley gain 2 way maturity.
Slaf needs to round out his game.
etc.
