Last year was the year to win the lottery. I'm hoping mcdavid signs a 4 year extension with the oilers and signs in Toronto when he's 25. The Leafs should have built a good team by then and with mcdavid should be able to compete for a few cups.

Its possible, but I doubt it. At this point there was no discussion of Willy going top 3, it had been narrowed down substantially.

Its just kind of funny its never really mentioned when we heard rumblings about Nylander that were not even in the same league. It looks like Laine is past his troubles though.

I woke up this morning with a gut feeling that we'll draft Pulujarvi 3rd and people will still be upset.

They shouldn't be. Puljujarvi is a great player. He's got good size, has tremendous skill and is a workhorse. He much better than anybody below him in the draft rankings.

Laine may be flashier and a better goal scorer but Puljujarvi has it all.

I personally would prefer Laine but the Leafs will not lose out if they draft Puljujarvi.

Plus, I finally memorized how to spell Puljujarvi, without having to look it up.:D

Having watched last year's NBA draft lottery, this new format is sure to induce heartbreak to some team. Let's hope it's not us.

Also, the lottery is going to be intense as hell. Our heartbeats are going to be at a breaking point lol, especially if a team later in the lottery jumps up.

Yes and I agree with Brian Burke, there is no way a 14th place team that just misses the playoffs should get number 1 pick.

Best case scenario would be:

1. Leafs
2. Avalanche
3. Devils

Worst case scenario would be:

1. Habs
2. Bruins
3. Sens

The Leafs have the biggest odds of being screwed simply by finishing 30th and picking 27th after the lotteries.

They own the best odds to pick in the top 3 and drop 3 spots without a win.

Many teams wont be affected at all as their draft position before and after will be the same.

Ya i somewhat see why we tried winning so much near the end etc. I think its better to finish 3/4/5 etc overall worst. Rather than the worst :(

No 30th still has the best chance of winning but against the field they are just 1 in 5. So the odds are greatly in favour of some other team picking first.

As I said it before, this is my list of preferences:

Tier 1 (Ideal situation)
Leafs

Tier 2 (I'll tolerate these teams winning)
Coyotes
Devils
Senators
Hurricanes
Canucks
Columbus

Tier 3 (Keep Tier 4 from winning, PLEASE!)
Avalanche
Canadiens
Jets

Tier 4 (would hate it if they win it)
Sabres (cause of Murray last year)
Flames (cause of Burke)
Oilers (cause of all 1OA)
Bruins (cause they were good for quite some time and they shouldn't get even better)
