Well WASH won the Ivan Miroshnichenko is falling sweepstakes last draft maybe they’ll stay put and hope Michkov goes to #8. If so I’d jump to 7 and take him.
unlike us the caps will be on the phones looking to move up if the player they want is there. they will be talking to every team ahead of them. if we make any kind of offer the caps will know and make a better offer. at least thats how i would do it.

Do not draft for size. That never works out. Draft for talent and production. If they happen to have size that’s a bonus.

Over reaching on a pick because of some 18 year old kid’s height will result in a bust.

Especially when they've taken advantage of their size difference to pad stats. Just because they grew early and bullied smaller players before those smaller players caught up, doesn't mean that will be the case when everyone is 22-28.

I think the new GM trades the pick. The team owes it to the players after the last several years wasted due to a joke front office.

This whole purgatory approach of refusing to trade first round picks, raising your hands saying we can’t make any moves, has to end. Either go for it or unload these contracts.

The half ass approach needs to stop. I guess we will find out soon if the half ass approach is a mandate by ownership or if was lazy ass Hextall’s grand plan.

I dunno, there’s a few players who could probably come right in and compete as 3C in that class, if not elsewhere in the lineup. If we got 4OA, then you start thinking about trading down or something but I’d rather explore trading our useless vets and adding youth than adding useless vets and trading youth.

This would be a great draft to find the next Robertson, Robert Thomas, Kyrou, or Point.
You've got to actually have a draft philosophy of taking skill/hockey IQ over picking the "safest" player available, though.

Can't hit a homerun when you're content to just bunt for singles to be safe.

Yep…but that’s why unless we get the 4-5 OA and a chance at a special talent, we’re better off trading the pick for a very good goalie like Saros or an established young player…

Exactly

We need to win NOW

We arent building a team for four years from now

Unless we are f***ing losers and finish even worse next year

At that point you can give up and rebuild. We aren't rebuild... YET...

Saros is on the short list of guys who can be called the best goalie in the world. I don't think he's gonna be traded for some halfway decent prospect like Pickering and the 14th overall.

People need to reconcile within themselves that this team's very likely to shrug its shoulders and re-sign Jarry. I think the dude's a shit goalie option, and that's due in large part to the fact that he's got Beau Bennett's durability, but I'd be *really* f***ing surprised if they went another direction.

Yes he is…goalies generally don’t generate high first round picks…another good option for the Pens, particularly if Boston wins the Cup, is to see if they’ll trade Swayman’s rights to the Pens for our first

 Every f***ing year, this place gets all amped for potential, dramatic changes and ways to improve the team and they just bring back the same old shit or go out and target some f***ing awful player like Granlund.

Ohhh, maybe this summer we'll see them reshuffle the blueline again to somehow get older and *more* lukewarm.

Agreed, it's a nice deep draft, I really hope the pick isn't moved at this point. Let's see, a nice 10 spot jump would be so sweet

Hextall would have been looking for another Petry in the off season...
