This has probably been mentioned before but the bug that makes the display with the lines visible throught entire shifts has been there in several versions now and is annoying as hell.

You can get rid of it by cycling through the lines once, like press B 4 times etc.

I dont know if this has been mentioned, but what if right when a shot is taken, the user takes control of a player in place for a deflection?

Starting goalies have inordinately low trade value in this game. James Reimer (84, classified as a starter) is only marginally more valuable than Brock Nelson (79, classified as a 3rd line forward). That's dumb as hell.

I need to be able to pull my goalie without having my player crouch on one knee. For example, I wait to pull my goalie to make sure I get the puck, so faceoff/scrum, puck rolls away. My player will obviously get there first so I press LB+Select to pull my goalie, but now my player is on his knees and the other team gets the puck.

You don't even have to do that! If the forward line is showing, hit X once to bring up the D lines, and vice versa. It's still annoying, though. It really makes you wonder what kind of a budget they're working with when a simple, easy to replicate bug like that can make it through five consecutive versions of the game.

I want to be able to see a list of transactions I've done going 5-10 years back, and the ability to view a players stats from this list. I want to know how the prospects I traded away our doing, and 5 years later I'm not going to know where they are.

I have ALWAYS loved the systems in Madden and FIFA where players have "Traits" and i would love to see this implemented in NHL 14

Some examples of traits would be

Defensive sniper (D men with killer poke checks)

Tree trunks (players hard to knock off puck)

One Timer (player has hard accurate one timer)

Hands (players who have a puck on a stick in close spaces )

Quick release (players who can get a shot off quick even under pressure)

Pk'er (player excels during PK)

PP quarterback (players stick skills increase on PP)

PP Finisher (players finishes better on PP)

Shootout specialist (player excels in shootout)

Figure skater (player is great on his edges and can turn on a dime)

Facilitate (players with tremendous vision and can make passes others cant (behind back, between legs, through traffic)

Board player (players are strong on the boards and great at forechecking)

Iron lungs (players who take much longer to tire out)

net precense (player excels at tips and garbage goal getting)

With every trait a player has he would also be able to use animations that players without the trait could not do (player with "hands" can do more advanced dekes than player without)
(player with "figure skating" trait can cut much quicker and stronger then player without trait)

- Fix the hits and hit detection. I shouldn't be hurculean checked out of the rink on every hit. Nor should I do the same to the AI (Or go to hit them and have nothing happen)

- Improve trading in the game. I shouldn't be able to get Tarasenko just 20 games into the season for low risk trade.

- Improve player progression in Be-a-Gm

- Lower player ratings to truly separate the best from the rest and give a more realistic look.

1. Go back to NHL 12 potential system.
2. Have us be able to customize our arena. Goal horns, Goal lights, Announcer/Pa voice, red line, seat colour etc etc.

-Add more leagues, like Allsvenskan, USHL, ECHL, Slovakian Extraliga, EBEL (KHL, IIHF, and NCAA licenses would be nice too). This would prevent the stupidity of drafting a random player from league USA/Russia and team USA/Russia in Be a GM
-WJC
-Make hitting realistic, although this would unfortunately make the game lose its comedic value
-Be a GM, various reasons already covered, but my main pet peeve is the bug when one of your players gets injured, you call up another, and you have to completely reset your lines because it says "not all of your lines have the correct number of players on them" even though they do, plus no late round gems in the draft
-I'm not a fan of the NHL 13 potential system
-I'm sick of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement
-Make coaches realistic. Last time I checked, Dan Bylsma is not some random older guy with extremely gray hair

All i can think of for now

-Improve BaGM please. More realistic trades (I.E. you can't trade any mid 80s 2nd line vet for a Huberdeau, RNH, Yak, Galchenyuk, etc because they are rated much lower than the veteran player at the present. Take into account the future value of players)
Also, it would be cool if trade value/overall actually fluctuated with stats rather than just age and a screwed up potential system.
Another thing that would be realistic but will never happen is including something like "propensity to injury" as a stat. I.E. since crosby has had more concussions than some other players, he is more likely to suffer from them in the game. Or if a player repeatedly suffers injuries and misses a lot of time, his strength and conditioning go down.
Like others have said, having to shuffle lines due to constant injuries is a pain in the ass. There has to be some way to make it easier and quicker.
Let the last 3 rounds of the draft actually have value. Make it so you can get a decent mix of guys that never make it, career AHLers, fringe NHLers, guys who carve out better than expected careers, and then get a rare late gem a la Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Lundqvist, or Miller. Also seeing a few highly rated guys bust each year would be a nice change of pace.
Have an actual difference between players...it feels very cookie cutter in terms of how I can try to pull off a deke with a first line stud and then try the same move with a 4th line grinder and they do literally the same exact thing. Account for differences in skill level more in the gameplay

One thing that id also love to see which would help online in the faceoff department is getting kicked out if you try to cheat too much or do the whirl wind trick.

How about:

-no ice tilt in HUT, if a team is better than its better
-quit making games close
-weaken poke check
-try and reduce weak/garbage goals

The biggest issue for me is they need to allow for more different styles of play. The only way you can win so it seems is by just making the fastest players. Teams are just composed entirely of speed on HUT and EASHL, so its pretty lame.

I try to make my team have some power forwards or at least gritty guys and two way forwards, but there is no point. Considering even terrible defensive players can poke the puck away from powerforward types then whats the point? A team of Kessels and Burns that are all just wicked fast will win against any other team.

Maybe the difference between players isnt enough. For some reason even when Im using a fast player I get caught for some reason. Maybe im not using the turbo right but it kinda sucks. I want to build a well balanced team but if I do, I keep losing. Clearly the best way to win is just loading up with soft fast players, and I think thats pretty lame.

Hitting just seems kinda useless too. Chara get lay people out, dont get me wrong, but so cant the Kessel type players too. Thats just not right... When I hit someone with Chara, it needs to make a bigger impact. I hate wrecking people and turning over the puck, but then I cant even pick it up. For some reason the guy on the ground gets up in time to pick it up, because my player is doing that stupid 360 turn the wrong way to try to look for the puck.

Thats another thing that needs to be fixed. Its so hard to get out of your defensive zone sometimes cause your players just do stupid ****. Like when they recieve the pass and you want to skate left, for some reason, they will spin clockwise and then start skating backwards, then spin counter clockwise half way, and then start skating. Im sure everyone knows what Im talking about. Its just so stupid and shouldnt be in this game at all, let alone the next one.

Also play makers are seemingly useless. Considering the computers react way too well to passing in this one, youre ****ed no matter what. When Im using Getzlaf, I want to feel like I am. I want him to be able to lay a saucer pass over someones stick and have it land on the other persons. Instead when I saucer pass it, even if I just tap it, the puck goes flying over his stick and the other player whiffs. When Im using Lucic, I want to feel like Im hard to knock off the puck and like I cant be hit. Right now every player is just so generic.

And Ill agree with people above me who said the difference in players needs to be bigger. Its so stupid to watch defensive dmen just dangle everywhere. People need to adapt to play with certain players. If you have Ryan Suter you shouldnt be doing one handed dekes.

And what the **** is with every player on your team just going and standing in front of the net when youre in the offensive zone? Maybe its cause I dont have any created plays or I dont set up an offensive strategy, but thats just so stupid. Hey EA... Watch an NHL game, watch players move around and try to get free. Watch how the skate around the offensive zone and cycle. You cant friggin cycle if your other two forwards are tied up. Seriously, what happens is you skate into the offensive zone, and then immediately its like your forwards look for dmen to tie up with. I just cant stand that crap and they end up blocking all my shots, or making me turn over the puck cause I cant pass it anywhere.

The computer AI you face is just ******** too. They can hit like five times in one second. Lets say I have Rick Nash or someone SUPPOSEDLY hard to knock off the puck. The computer will come up from behind him, hit him once and he wont fall over but he will slow down, then it will hit him again, and again, and again, til he falls over. Im sure most of you know what Im talking about. Its just so dumb. If you dont knock me off on the first hit, you shouldnt be able to do it again 1 second later.

I just find this game frustrating to no end. I turn it on, and I always think its gonna be fun, but then I play a couple games in HUT and just see the same stupid **** over and over. Turning over the puck because my player spins in stupid directions, other teams withs lines of Grabner, Havlat, Hall, Bouwmeester, and Burns winning despite being so soft, etc.

I swear NHL13 just made more problems than NHL12. Half this stuff wasnt an issue in 12. Please for the love of god EA, fix this game. Ill give them a pass since they implemented this new skating system, but for the last year they better have at least made some changes.

I hate to love this game, and I love to hate it. I still play it more than any other game, but I know it sucks, and its lazy. EA had a good idea with the new skating system, but this feels like an incomplete game. They created this new system, but didnt get all the flaws out. I hope they stick with it but if they dont fix those silly stupid problems then i dont see myself buying NHL14...

End of rant, thanks to anyone that actually read it haha

To expand on this:

Latching on to guys in the slot while the play is going up-ice is interference. How EA is too stupid to realize this is honestly not that surprising. How could they let such a horrid game mechanic operate the way it does? ****ing morons.

Not to mention, when you get tied up by a computer, sometimes they will just THROW you to the ground. And you will get an injury. Or your guy will bounce along the ice twenty feet and take half a minute to get up.

Thats interference... Why the hell can computers get away with that crap?

Oh and another thing, make the protect the puck button have a point again. It was useful in 12, but in 13 it is absolutely useless. If you try to protect against the computer, oh baby, they will just slam you over. If you try to do it to a human they will just poke check it away. The protect the puck button just slows you down too friggin much, and it doesnt really help all that much anymore either.

I'd like them to actually face scan all the players, some of the faces are just so "wtf?" - Not to mention there's like 50 of the same face in the game.

Fighting needs to be improved, its the same old thing. Also, why is there no one on the ice or on the bench when a fight starts? Did they all run away?

Biggest things for me are:

-As mentioned above player turning to get a puck should go 20 degrees for a 20 degree turn, not 340 degrees in the opposite direction.

-Another is why when I try to skate through the slot or in front of the net a magnetic force sticks me to a computer player even when he isn't facing? I HATE this part of the game.

-Computer defence hit/kill me even though I'm 3 strides around them? I wasn't aware that I was a year old child in this game. I don't understand why a giy standing still with no momentum can send me flying 20 feet? Who's in control of physics in this game?

-The power up passing is a little too insane, in real life I don't necessarily have to 'power up' a pass in the extreme way its done in NHL13 (2-3 seconds). Has to be improved, along with the terrible saucer pass.

-AI needs to be completely redone, why do the defence just shoot the puck EVERY time I pass it to them in EASHL. Even on the PP, maybe a little poise would be nice to give me a chance to call for it?

-Why is there so many play options in every mode except EASHL? Ex: Powerplay customization.

-Also I would like a way to control lines in EASHL, ex: pp, pk, etc.

-Why is it so hard if I'm a Dman in EASHL to have any poise on the blue line? Its turnover heaven, no mobility .. Way too hard to turn/puck protect and there needs to be some kind of way to hold the line. That goes for every player, I hate that stupid, unrealistic, weird extra stick handle where I take the puck out of the zone. Makes me furious.

-So many more but I'm strapped for time at the moment.

New faceoff system. It doesnt need to be completely redone but I would like to see players get kicked out. And it should be more based on timing like in real hockey, not two guys hunched over, completely still.
