The whole Artemis program has a projected spend of $93 billion. I'm pro space exploration, partly because I think humanity is better when we're looking beyond ourselves and doing things that remind us how small we are and how petty our differences are compared to the vast weirdness and grandeur of space, and partly because I missed the moon landing and would like to see something similarly ground-breaking in my lifetime, although that prospect is becoming remote. But that's an eyewatering amount of money, and just for one project.

I know that NASA projects end up having a tremendous technological impact on the world in terms of satellite technology, communications, rocketry, etc. so good practical applications of things developed for this will probably come down the pipe, but it's really jarring when families are going to struggle to heat their homes this winter that we're spending $4 billion in public money to launch a rocket that's going to loop around the moon. Not even going to put men on the moon or anything symbolic (though that's still a capricious pursuit as far as I'm concerned), just flying around the moon or something. Feels wasteful to me.

A pound of pork in the slow cooker, covered with hickory sweet baby rays and just about everything i had in the spice cabinet. It smells glorious in here now. The kids apparently enjoy bbq pork sandwiches, so we are fixing to have ourselves a feast tonight. Dad approved.

I have fallen in love with bbq pulled pork & bbq pulled chicken sandwiches. I'm not brave enough to try making it from scratch like you do, so I buy it at the grocery store.

They can't send people up without first testing the rocket and the spacecraft uncrewed, they just can't. Spaceflight is dangerous enough with all the testing & preparation they do. Cutting corners means dead astronauts- Apollo 1, Challenger & Columbia are proof of that.

NASA in it's lifetime has gotten less total funding than the military got just last year

Start with some chicken in the pan and then just shred it with a fork. Once you get the hang of it, you can move on to pork.

Our "old band" experience was Squeeze last year:

They were actually pretty awesome. We also saw Elvis Costello, but his show was disappointing to me.
And everyone was old enough to be finished by 9:15, on the road and in bed by 11. Hooray for being old.

Robert Clary, the French actor, singer and Holocaust survivor who portrayed Corporal LeBeau on the World War II-set sitcom Hogan’s Heroes, has died. He was 96.

Clary, who was mentored by famed entertainer Eddie Cantor and married one of his five daughters, died Wednesday morning at his home in Los Angeles, his granddaughter Kim Wright told The Hollywood Reporter.

CBS’ Hogan’s Heroes, which aired over six seasons from September 1965 to April 1971, starred Bob Crane as Colonel Robert E. Hogan, an American who led an international group of Allied prisoners of war in a covert operation to defeat the Nazis from inside the Luft Stalag 13 camp.

Clary was the last surviving member of the show’s original principal cast.

My dad's favorite show. I think we saw every episode 5 times on TV38.

Larry David got paid by a crypto company to say “don’t invest in crypto” and now the entire bubble’s collapsing as he laughs his way to the bank. Glorious

He, Tom Brady, & Tom's ex-wife Gisele are among those named in a class action lawsuit filed in Florida yesterday about this fraud. He may not be laughing for long.

One of my favorite shows when I was a kid. It was years before I learned that Robert Clary was a survivor of Auschwitz. Sadly, he was the only member of his family left alive.

It's easy in a crockpot. Couple chicken breasts on low for 2-3 hours, pour out the liquid that comes out of the chicken. Add BBQ sauce and another hour on low. Shred with two forks.

Welp our washing machine is crapping out. We cant remember how old it is but maybe 6 or 7 years. Thought we’d get more from Whirlpool , but nope. Transmission and bearings shot.
So the Bride says I think I want a Speed Queen. I said a Speed what? Never heard of them. She says thats because I never do laundry and would buy new clothes instead. Smart ass.

I guess its an American 100 year old company that pretty much owns the commercial market. Laundromats, dorms, apartment buildings, etc.. Also make home models.
Her girlfriend has one down the Cape for the bazillion towels, bathing suits and sheets they do.
So, got one coming on Tuesday. Expensive but if I get the 20 plus years they have has history not to mention a full 7 year warranty included. Bumper to bumper. Parts and labor. It will be worth it.

I told her we should have spent the extra $150- for the coin op version just to see the looks on my kids faces.
But I was overruled.

My complex uses speed queen machines. They are solid.
