Sometime down the line, it'd be sick to have another Winter Classic in Chicago. Now, the next one the Hawks play in may be on the road, but the next best place in Chicago to do it is Soldier Field. Watching highlights of the practice with the soldiers today was really cool since it was a great event and for the fact Soldier Field looked like a great venue for an outdoor hockey game. The games Sunday will be sick. If I weren't going to the Hawks game tomorrow, I probably would have nabbed some tickets.

So, are you for or against a Winter Classic at Soldier Field sometime soon?

Absolutely for it. Great venue for it and very scenic for national tv being on the lakefront with the skyline in the background. Should happen at some point.

I'd love the Hawks to play at Soldier Field.. but at this point, I just want the Hawks to be involved in another Winter Classic. Hopefully after the Leafs/Wings in 2015.

Sure, I'd be cool with it. And I'll be at the hockey doubleheader tomorrow at Soldier Field, so hopefully it ends up being good and leaving a good impression on the stadium's potential to host one, too.

That being said, I'm guessing that we'll be a road team for a Winter Classic sooner than we host another one.

Ex-teammate and good friend of mine is a linesman for one of the games tomorrow. He's really pumped, to say the least. Lives outside of Detroit now but is from here so lots of people showing up to watch. Should be a great day of hockey.

There was a rumor that the Rangers almost dropped out of the Philly WC and that the Hawks would have been added. No idea if it was true or not, but I was really excited and would have gone. Saw the Cubs at CBP in 2009. Hell of a ballpark.

Yeah, heard that rumor, too.... but no clue whatsoever if it was real or not.

And yeah, really looking forward to the games tomorrow, though I'll certainly be wearing several layers. Hopefully it's a near packed house, too.

Let's just have a home game in Soldier Field. Why does it have to be a winter classic? Let another city get the tv rights and opportunity.

We could sell out against Toronto, St. Louis or Vancouver. I think Nashville fans would buy tickets if we scheduled the Pred's.

Maybe tomorrows college double header is looking at the demand. I mean if they sell out Soldier Field with the college games....while the Blackhawks are playing that would be incredible. Lot of hockey fans in the city tomorrow. I wonder where it will effect demand. I think both places might be sold out. But probably not Soldier Field I mean it is only college hockey.

If we do get to be the road team for one, I'll definitely be pulling for it being up in Minnesota or down in St. Louis, though I'm doubting that either will land one any time soon.

That being said, I'd also really like to see the Avs get one of their own, if only for the possibility that they could wear retro Rockies sweaters (different franchise, and they'd need the Devils permission, but just love the idea).

The league wouldn't allow it.

Leaving shortly for the games @ SF.

Should be fun but nippy!

Soldier Field seems like it'd be a great place for hockey with how close the seats are to the field. Upper deck should be an awesome view.

First game went well, though the place got a lot more crowded near the end of the first game with more and more Minnesota and Wisconsin fans filing in.

Views were fine in the 300s, too.

I'd love it. I hate the Cubs & Wrigley Field is a first class dump. Should have went with SF the first time around.

Should have been at Soldier Field vs Wings in 09

Problem is Chicago Park District/Bears dont want them there when it is potential conflict with Bears season

Field is garbage enough that they dont want this setup in late Dec/Early Jan

Would love to see Boston come to Soldier field. Two Original 6 teams...two recent cup champs...who knows they could be the 2 SCF teams this year too.

The reason why the past WC was at awrigley instead of Soldier Field was for the TV audience. The entire point is to make a spectacle to get people to watch, and Wrigley would've assuredly done that better than Soldier.

Now that Wrigley's been used, Soldier Field is the obvious next iconic choice to use for a second Chicago-based one.

They could always play in front of a half empty crowd at the Cell :sarcasm:

I remember the day of the WC, my dad was *****ing constantly about them tearing down Comiskey and not playing the game there.

I promptly reminded him of the relocation threat, and that shut him up about the issue for a good half an hour.

I think they'd still get better ratings if it were in Wrigley again, instead of Soldier. I'm not watching a hockey game just because it's played in Soldier field, if I'm a casual fan. Definitely would flip to NBC for a second of two if I'm a general sports fan, to see Wrigley with an ice rink in it.

Bossard would never allow them to put a hockey rink on his field.
