The tough part is that there is no way the Sabres are giving up their 2025 1st because it will be so high.Yep, it's Ekholm 2.0. He's such an underrated 1st pairing guy because his counting stats aren't eyepopping. But his defensive stats in Pittsburgh have been just amazing up to this year (when everyone in Pittsburgh is struggling in their own zone) and he's ONLY TWENTY EIGHT.
FFS.
Maybe that will work in your part of the world.
They treaded a top 13 protected pick. I’m sure Adams doesn’t know this…but he’s allowed to do that too. I’ve wanted them to do that for years in hopes that it forces them to compete knowing they don’t have a pick as reward. But picks are free and prospects are cheap. So it doesn’t happen. The tough part is that there is no way the Sabres are giving up their 2025 1st because it will be so high.
And I doubt Dubas wanted to wait on a 2026 1st. And perhaps a guy like Rosen or Ostlund didn't move the needle.
I think Rosen and a little sweetener could move the needle. Especially since Dubas was looking at our prospects. This 1st is still under protection and it will probably be mid first at best scenario. The tough part is that there is no way the Sabres are giving up their 2025 1st because it will be so high.

And why would he sign with this tire fire? He and JR have a strong relationship, of course a deal was getting done out there. That's the one trade made this past week I was really unhappy about. Sabres desperately need a guy like him.

Well now we will never know will we. It gets a little old acting like they aren't a real NHL franchise. (because they aren't a real NHL franchise)And why would he sign with this tire fire? He and JR have a strong relationship, of course a deal was getting done out there.
Yeah, this should be multiple games. But its the NHL so probably just a fine.
5 minute Match penalty for intent to injure.
EDIT: Since the video is restricted, MINN's Ryan Hartman slams Stutzle's head into the ice during a faceoff. Very obvious and also drew quite a bit of blood. Given a 5 minute Match penalty. I'm hoping there will be an in-person hearing and a suspension. He did a very similar thing during a faceoff last season but was only fined.
There is next to no chance that the Penguins get the Sabres 2025 1st if it is top 13 protected. So, it's basically trading Buffalo's 2026 1st unprotected. The Rangers pick is top 13 protected for this season. Why Buffalo couldn't do that would be a question for Adams - also that they would have to have an extension ready to go and I doubt they are going to look to add, even if a quality first pairing defensive defenseman who can let Dahlin go be Dahlin would be an excellent add. This draft ain't all that - moving next year's pick with someone like MP already in the mix is both a show of confidence to the team that they're done with not being in the playoffs AND helps them now. It's the extension though - how do they convince MP to sign unless it's a tick or more above market value? And we know that this team isn't going to spend money on someone from outside.
Seriously? We're going to be bad again? This is ridiculous. This guy is probably out of a job and his contract is probably up and he thinks we're going to be bad again. And Adams may worry about them being bad again in 2025-26, so that is a high lottery pick that gets moved.
I don't know why anyone would think that Pegula is going to let Adams go anytime soon. Pegula wants a GM that will communicate with him and run an economical team. It sure seems like Adams is getting high marks from Pegula on those two fronts.Seriously? We're going to be bad again? This is ridiculous. Are you sure about that, are you willing to bet on that? Because the results are not there or because the contract is ending or both, how the hell is he going to survive this season? Marek and Friedman said before the season that Adams would be fired if they didn't make the playoffs.I don't know why anyone would think that Pegula is going to let Adams go anytime soon. I do not believe that Adams was hired based on his ability to be a GM.Are you sure about that, are you willing to bet on that? He was hired because he was convenient, but even guys like that have an expiration date when a team fails for too long. Not long ago, Terry was going to win the Cup.I do not believe that Adams was hired based on his ability to be a GM.
And I do not believe that his future employment as GM will be determined by wins and losses. That is because I place more value on the things that Terry Pegula has said publicly than things that media members or fans say.
