They should do Wrigley again instead of Soldier Field. That game was unreal against the Wings.

Sorry I'm not gonna waste time digging through your hundreds of threads to find your old WC thread. They'll be playing in the Bears stadium.

No, what I meant was that it could be put here or a new thread.

You put it in the Bears thread. A lot of people that will want to know that news will not expect something like that in a football thread, and that's with the event taking place in an NFL stadium.

Soldier Field can hold more fans and has less obstructed seats.

35,000-40,000 fans is plenty. Who cares if it can hold more people. I'm not sure Soldier Field would even draw 60,000+ for a game. Outdoor hockey is meant to be an event, Wrigley has that "event' atmosphere because of its location.

I agree, but I'm not sure we'll ever see Wrigley used again.

Didn't feel like making a thread or making a spectacle out of it. Just tossing it out there as a little nugget for the future.

Any reason for this bump?

WC isn't coming back any time soon. Hawks will be the road team in STL or Minny within 5 years, IMO.

You really think Soldier Field wouldn't draw 60,000+ for a Hawks game? SF has more of an "event" atmosphere being that it is on the lakefront, the location would be outstanding.

Because of what Gootie said in the Bears thread

Hawks will be hosting a game at Soldier Field in February straight out of the Olympics. Don't have a link, but my cousin (who goes to MU as well) had a Hawks marketing guy in his sports marketing class and he said that there will be a series of 3 games in Feb, with LA/NYR/CHI as hosts. Take it with a grain of salt if you want.

damn...

That second deck is awesome. I sat there for the Bears/Packers game this year. It's be the best seat in the house. The key to these games if you go is to sit high. You can only see half the players' bodies if you are low. That means you can't see the puck unless it's elevant a good amount.

that'd be great but outdoor games should stay at 1 a year

Considering that the rumors are that the NHL is considering not one, not two, but potentially three outdoor games next year (Michigan Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Yankee Stadium, on different days, though), that's looking to be more and more of a thing in the past.

Plus side? Increases drastically of seeing our Hawks in another outdoor game, be it on the road or somewhere in Chicago.

Down side? All novelty gone, no longer going to be a spectacle.

Veterans Day at Soldier Field

Veterans Day is in November so it wouldn't be a brutally cold game.

They should do a game on Veterans Day at Soldiers Field it wouldn't take away from the winter classic and it would gain a National Audience.

The game should be against this years Cup winner. If we win the cup then a rematch of that on Veterans Day!

There's this league that plays games in November. Not gonna happen.

Sounds better than the SOCAL Slush Bowl at Dodgers's Stadium betseen the Kings and Ducks....a travesty in the heat of Jan 1st for pond hockey traditionalists...what next, swim races from the Frozen Arctic Sea?
