What I enjoyed about this period from a Habs perspective that they really tried hard to carry the puck into the zone and numerous times when I expected a dump in they actually made a play to carry the puck in and did so successfully with a good ratio.

As I said, there will be growing pains as they get used to this but considering that Julien's had barely any time and this is the first game, the difference is pretty remarkable already.

Lol are you serious ? At least Burns, Karlsson, Doughty are all way ahead of him.

Unless he goes PPG the rest of the season + great defense, he won't win the Norris.

Doughty is not ahead of him, he's been pretty meh.

Burns is ahead of him but he's right in the mix with Hedman and Karlsson.

Neither will Subban, so posters should stop talking about him, he's not a hab anymore, get over it.

It's only the 1st, but man does it look like Price said "**** off, Therrien you're done", cause this ain't the CP we saw the last month.

The Burden of the challenge is on him.

IT would just prove how unprofessional Price had been in the last.couple of months.

It will take some time and frankly Bergys built team is quite flawed.

Montreal Munchkins have trouble competing against heavy team and lack of mobility defensively are big issues.

Its on Bargainbin now, not like his "on me" crap like last year. He has no excuses anymore.

Yeah, that’s the only way. No initially proficient defensive center ever developped an offensive game. As far as I’m concerned, Chucky has a bunch of good potential teachers on the habs to learn defense other than the head coach: Muller, teamates like Plekanec, Pacioretty, etc. His failure to develop a decent defensive game is mostly on his head IMO and Therrien is a convenient excuse.

Once Julien rebuilds his confidence he will be okay defensively. We don't need a Selke from him, but if he's dominating offensively, the other team won't be rolling their top line out there against him. Plus with increased puck possession, we won't need Chucky to lead defensively. Of the top 9 forwards, he should be 9th most important defensively. I don't see a problem with that if he's developing into an elite offensive centerman.

lmao, come on guys. Ya'll act like Subban has been any good this season.

As much as you dislike Weber, he has been the better player this season and its not really close right now.
Weber was the better player for the first month anyway. Can't believe how insane his start was. He was actually the highest scorer in the league at one point. Since then he's been meh.

As for PK before coming back from injury (and I haven't checked since) the Preds were half a goal better per game with Subban in the lineup than without and their possession numbers were much better as well. Subban obviously isn't racking up the points he used to but he still seems to be making a really positive difference to that team's overall play.

His back is messed up though, that's the wildcard. He missed part of the pre-season with it and it's obviously hobbled him somewhat this year. The thing about Subban with us is that he was always healthy. If he's busted up going forward it obviously changes things. Personally I'd take Subban every day over Weber and twice on Sunday but that back is a pretty big variable in the equation.

Burns already has locked it up.
More accurately, tatooed it up.

Habs don't have the size to play that style of game.

Understandble considering MT valued loyalty and his "pets" over chemistry, size or hockey ability. The roster is constructed to make MT happy, not necessarily to win hockey games.

Wait, Jets had 15 shots on goal to our 6? I thought we sucked because of Therrien.

The shot totals are funny, but it would be closer if forwards weren't colliding at a ridiculous rate. Which might have had to be expected with break + tactics change.

Let's all move past the Subban trade and start thinking about that 2C hole.
We have things to address and dwelling on the past won't help that.
