this is almost the same roster we started with last year that had us near the top of the central, if we can fix special teams which tbh shouldn't be that hard considering how bad they were and the young guys take another step and stay healthy(vilardi) then we should be fine, I still think we make a trade though and use that cap space

Yup...

Out: Dillon, Schmidt and Brossoit
In: Miller and Kahkonen and Comrie

Samberg is likely to replace Dillon on the 2nd pair. Miller is an okay 2/3 RD to replace Schmidt.

Jets are banking on Heinola and/or Stanley stepping into the 3LD role, which is sort of what fans and media have been clamouring for.

Up front, the forwards are unchanged. Perfetti is likely going to be a bit stronger and faster and more capable of a top-9 role. Kupari and Barron and Gus are likely to improve. Lambert is waiting in the wings. Maybe Vilardi can stay healthy next season.

Everyone seems to forget that the Jets basically use Lowry as the 2C. Namestnikov is fine as a 2/3 C, based on his performance with the Jets.

This is what I want to see. Take a step back and trial your young players to get them their NHL legs. Kovacevic and Chisholm are good examples of the logjam of excess. Wish he would actually deal from strength to address weakness, though. The team is a strong contender for the bubble.

Chevy: Young players = Appleton, Barron and Gus. ;)

I'm not sure the team will be as strong defensively this year as they were under Bowness. We can hope that the special teams improve. Hellebuyck is going to have to do even more heavy lifting. We'll likely see Connor and Scheifele together all year.

Wonder what’s happening behind the scenes with Ehlers camp

Not sure about the accuracy of this, but it here it goes.
When the Jets came back, Moose box holders had the first crack at maintaining them and from what I understood from my friend whose company has a box ( split 3 ways ) is, that the potentially large corporate base was unable to purchase boxes as they were spoken for and still are.
So if there is any grain of truth to this, perhaps large companies are not interested in a few sets of tickets?

One guess on who's number 32.
don't agree with comparing their post-TDL roster vs their upcoming 2024 opening night roster. it should be comparing 2023 opening night vs 2024 opening night.

it is possible the Jets to slide a bit, teams don't often repeat 110+ pt years. however, with Helle and a solid top-6 the Jets should still be a v competitive team & in a PO spot. goaltending means a lot and the Jets have the most consistent regular-season goaltender.

fwiw- i literally juuuust posted this in a different thread lol

Jfresh has us at 100 pts/3rd in the division. last year he had us at 109 pts/1st.

This is not a huge surprise. The Jets haven't really lost that much from the beginning of last season. Monahan and Toffoli replaced Namestnikov and Perfetti in the line-up. Samberg replaces Dillon. Miller replaces Schmidt. The main gap will be at 6D (Heinola or Stanley) and at back-up goalie (Kahkonen or Comrie for Brossoit).

Vilardi missed 35 games via injury.

I think the Jets' roster is a bit weaker than the start of last season without Dillon and Schmidt on D, but if Heinola, Miller and maybe Stanley fill the 3rd pair gap, they might not be that much worse. Biggest lost might be back-up goalie. I'm hoping that they don't suffer too much there.

I’m thinking we barely hit 90 points this season.
Let’s see what happens,

Which players do you expect to fall off the cliff this season? They are pretty much the same roster that was cruising near the top of the NHL before acquiring Monahan and Toffoli.

More of a team thing than players specifically.
I don’t think the defensive numbers are going to be as good as last season.
Can Hellebucyk keep up the fantastic performances this year as well?
We go as far as he takes us.
How will the backup goalie be?
I feel that Dillon is a loss of toughness on the backend.
It was just himself and Lowry with bite.
Ehlers… if he isn’t here we will be worse off.
I’m just not sure we will be 100+ points again.
One thing that could help immensely is special teams.
Arniel is he up to the task?
I think it’s a step back this season.

I expect a drop off, but going from 110 to 90 points is a very big drop. I think somewhere in the 96-100 range seems reasonable, and if they don't achieve that it will likely be due to poor coaching decisions. The roster is good enough for a solid playoff spot.
