According to the reactive gloating from Winnipeg fans on ****** and the main boards, the Jets won the cup tonight. Who knew
As for Brown, I wasn't necessarily talking about tonight. This season in general. As a matter of fact, every year the guy has looked a step slower. He was snake bitten throughout the playoffs last year, I know he's a great leader and does other stuff but he's not the same guy he used to be.

I'm used to it at this point. I've seen the term 'measuring stick' followed by insane chest thumping so many times this season my eyes are starting to bleed.

Our D is severely outclassed in this league. Doughty, Muzzin, and Martinez are the only guys that belong out there right now. Its an obvious hole that needs to be addressed. The amount of goals they've given up and the rate they let them in should be a major concern.
And in my opinion you'd still be wrong. This year he really, really hasn't. Last year he did, and it was explainable by the knee injury. This year, especially more recently, he's been doing everything but throwing his typical monster hits. He's speeding around the ice, carrying the puck into the zone and the play, drawing penalties. Not much more to expect from brown other than points and those will come if he keeps doing what he's doing.
I've watched every single game this year and I disagree. I guess it's just different opinions. I'm expecting more than just energy from a captain. We're halfway through the season, and he has 6 goals and 10 assists. I know he's never been a points guy but his production has gotten worst and worst every year. I've seen a little bit more from him since he's been with Kopi and more recently he's showed that energy but he has to bring more to the table than that. Has to start putting the puck in the net (once again, I know that's not what he's supposed to do) but for a guy who's making $7M this year and has a $5.8M AAV, he has to have more than 6 goals in 42 games.

All our current D deserve to be in the league, they're just playing too many minutes, they need to be sheltered by another decent top four dman, it really puts the team under pressure and hangs Quick out to dry at times. I'm just wondering which has been the bigger loss for us, Mitchell or Voynov.

Dustin Brown has been great. He's been playing Trevor Lewis hockey - all energy, but nothing to show for it.

Thats the problem, most of us focus on how much he's earning due to our limited cap space, I think we need to forget about watching the $$ and appreciate what player we have.
Ehh, I don't think Schultz, McBain should be taking a regular shift in the NHL, at least not on a contender. Losing Mitchell and Voynov was killer. Regehr has been very good this year and we desperately need him to pick up where he left off when he gets back and hopefully him and Martinez can be 3/4 of what Mitchell/Voynov brought. The real kicker will be the bottom pairing...who goes there, McNabb/Greene? Forbort? Schultz (vomit)? It's gonna be ugly. And that's before Muzzin and Doughty completely run out of gas. I admit I liked the idea of spreading out the D with McNabb/Doughty and muzzin/greene but didnt' get enough of a view of it to wonder what that could look like to keep us afloat.
They wouldn't be my first choice, but they're ok with limited minutes. We're trying to play these guys in a second pairing role at times. If we still had mitchell and vv as the second pairing would we really be that concerned about a schultz and mcnabb/ greene/ mcbain pair? we'd be focusing on other issues.
After all the happened tonight. I kinda get this feeling the Kings are about go on a great run. They always seem to do it when things are the most bleak.
