Sure if he would rather sign with either the Panthers or the Lightning that's fine then i can follow him more often seeing that i live in Florida as well and i'm a Tampa Bay Lightning season ticket holder either one would be fine by me. Both are far better then Detroit will ever be Detroit needs to dismantle and start their own rebuild here any ways.

I was just pulling your leg. The odds he attains free agency in four years are extremely remote, even smaller than the minuscule chance he winds up as a Red Wing over the interim.

LOL

If a big, young, top-4 D went up for auction today, teams would be lined up for his services. Detroit can't match what others would likely offer, things that fit the Jets needs.

You do realize he is years away from free agency, correct?

If Detroit is such a draw to him as you claim, why does he reside in Florida in the off-season?

The fishing is better.... I would love to have Trouba in Detroit but we aren't ideal trading partners since our best trading chips are wingers and you have them in plethora. Best luck in the upcoming season.

They're right now there's absolutely no way you can tell me that Detroit even comes close to either Florida or Tampa. Florida and Tampa are both far better then Detroit right now Holland has that club in disarray. Upgrade the D and maybe just maybe they might be able to get the puck out of their own zone from time to time.

I was doing the same with you, I think Trouba remains a Jet for the foreseeable future i think Chevy gives him what he wants. He seems to like it there quite a bit you definitely have a far better young up and coming club then we do. So there's that.

Might want to revisit your sentence then "will ever be."

Seriously doubt that it will ever be, At least until we get rid of Holland and can get a competent GM here that can better this team. Maybe in 10-15 years once we start our rebuild but i don't see this team in the near future ever being as good as Florida or Tampa are now.

If Trouba isn't your 3rd best RHD? Then why is Trouba pretty much playing bottom pairing with Stuart then. Obviously Buff and Myers are ahead of Trouba on the RHD depth chart. The only way Trouba is paired with Myers is when Trouba switches to his Leftside off hand side. If Trouba is better then say Myers then why isn't Trouba playing middle pairing minutes and Myers playing bottom pairing. DDK is far better then Stuart and Enstrom that's for sure so yes he would definitely be one of your better LHD.

DDK is not better than Enstrom, he's marginally worse at shot generation and then significantly worse at shot suppression and overall possession. Enstrom is very good and effective (and underrated) at what he does, it's unfortunate that his point production has dropped off a cliff but his defensive game is still of very good quality.

Unfortunately Trouba's the victim of stubbornness. Maurice sees Stuart-Trouba and Enstrom-Myers as combinations that work. Despite the fact that Myers is playing with a much, much better player than Trouba their average TOI remains very similar and Trouba shows a better possession game. To say he's playing bottom pairing is a joke. Bottom pairing players don't average 22+ minutes a game.

C'mon now Kyosama, everyone knows Trouba and his 22:04 minutes a night plays the bottom pairing while Myers and his 22:37 plays top pairing. Obviously.

My favourite part of this thread is how Trouba is a "middle 4 defenseman" where Larkin is "a potential franchise center"

One players gets valued cause of his potential, the other is limited to what he already is. I could just as easily say I wouldn't trade a potential 1 D for a top 6 center. I love how disingenuous every HFboards fanbase is

Will ever be means never. 10-15 years is in the window of "ever"

Dude made a stupid statement.

Not everyone is stating that but I understand your frustration with everyone trying to give you quarters and dimes for your dollar. Trouba is a fantastic player and hopefully it works out for you guys.

Number1RedWingFan I'm not sure how you can't state that Holland is completely incompetent... You don't know what Illitch is saying about icing the most competitive team for the new arena. Plus he has a pretty good draft pedigree for average draft position (Mantha at 20, Larkin at 15, AA in mid-round, the list goes on and on.)

They are 1 year and 4 months removed from a 7 game playoff battle royale with Tampa. That could have been anyone's series and we didn't even have kronwall for that game 7. Let's not blow this out of proportion here.
