Winnipeg
To Detroit: Jacob Trouba, Andrew Copp
To Winnipeg: Anthony Mantha, Ryan Sproul and Darren Helm

If Winnipeg is unable to resign Trouba maybe they want to send him home to Detroit along with his fellow Michiganian Andrew Copp. Detroit gets a potential No. 1 to help out their troubled D-core, Jets get a potential replacement in Sproul. Mantha is another player who could make the Jets top six loaded in the future and Helm is a local boy who could be a solid bottom six addition and could give the Wings some cap relief.

This is a nice trade for all the players involved.

Detroit would agree to this.
I do not think most Winnipeg fans will.

With the DeKeyser extension going the way it went, the Red Wings no longer have anything of interest outside of Larkin.

Doesn't help Winnipeg's situation at all. Don't need wingers at all.

Detroit isn't a good trade partner for Winnipeg.

Helm is way overpaid but they were interested in him for more so who knows..
Sproul is ANOTHER RD for them that they don't need
Mantha is good but they have plenty of fwd prospects and would probably want a LD coming back

They are getting an overpaid bottom 6 fwd, A good top 6 prospect, A decent potential 5-6 Dman for a potential 1RD.

As a wings fan I would be thrilled if this trade happened but in all reality it is not even close at all.

That is true that he is unsigned but it's not a question of whether or not they will "lose" him for nothing. WPG has first rights of refusal to the agreed upon arbitrated salary. It really does become a question of whether or not they are willing to commit to the salary that is ultimately decided upon. Now it seems he's going to fall somewhere in the realm of $5.5-$6M to a two to three year deal? It's one of those things that WPG will have to decide if that's worth it and if they can get more value for moving him than committing the additional numbers to their defense to what equates to their third best defender

No arbitration available to Trouba.

Sums it up quite nicely. Would love to have Trouba on the Wings but this really doesn't address the Jets left side and DeKeyser is staying in Detroit.

Detroit would easily say yes to this, But i doubt that Cheveldayoff would do it. Besides i thought Cheveldayoff wants LHD that Detroit just doesn't have similar to Trouba. Sproul is a RHD like Trouba. I would gladly accept this deal. But i'm pretty sure that if Chevy moved Trouba because he wants out quite a few more teams could offer far more. Unless Trouba pretty much just says to Chevy that i only want to play at home in Detroit. Then possibly a 3 way might have to be involved.

Unfortunately as much as i would love to see Trouba come home to Detroit, I totally agree that Detroit just doesn't have the pieces that Winnipeg would want we would have to do a 3 way deal here most likely.

I agree that it would be a tough exchange as a whole but I don't think we're the worst trading partner out there for you.

As far as I can tell, you all would be looking for a Top-6 center, and some help in goal?

If that's the case - to make the numbers work on Detroit's end, it might make more sense to so something around:

WPG
Yegeny Svechnikov
Jimmy Howard
Xavier Ouellet

DET
Trouba
Pavelec

And there might have to be a throw in on Detroit's side to get the money to work a little better here and there since we would be taking on an additional $3-4M back depending on the arbitration.

WPG would obviously get a Top-6 center prospect - a goaltender who is capable of starting and has statistically outperformed Pavelec and carries three more years to grow and develop something in house without having to stop gap over the next couple of seasons and disrupt stability. And Ouellet is our most overripe defensive prospect who is ready to take on a role in the NHL, a decent upside to him, and shoots Left and helps fill the lose of Trouba at a fraction of the cost.

EDIT
Oh - didn't realize there wasn't an arbitration for him. This is just a contract extension talk?

Helm is impossible to move for us at this point. It's the term of his contract that is such a disaster.
