Winners are Florida and Dallas. They gave up a ton and it'll hurt in the future, but f*** the future, win in the present.

Carolina did well considering. Didn't mind the initial gamble they took and they made the best out of what ended up being a tough position.

For my team personally, Hawks did nothing. Took Weber's cap to be cap compliant next season (does this mean we're Arizona now!?!). Didn't trade Donato or anyone else of note. Did well with the Jones trade a week ago which lessons the sting for today a bit. Also traded Mrazek without giving up anything, freeing us of our new log jam there. Not sure what Detroit was doing picking him up, though.
Wings fans have been trying to figure it out as well…

Winners
  • Dallas - I really liked the Granlund+Ceci deal, and they got the best player.
  • Florida- Got good value for both guys they picked up. Marchand/Bennett/Tkachuk line will be a nightmare
  • Boston - Did some terrific trades selling
  • Rangers - Felt they won all of their trades

Losers
  • I think Colorado got fleeced on all 3 deals they made. Really didn't like their deadline. But that being said they definitely became a better team.
  • Habs/Flames/Blackhawks for not capitalizing on trades

Not sure how much Dallas is going to hurt in the future. 5th rounds pick are where we get our gems generally and i didn't see a 5th moved for anyone. 1st's hurt some i get it but we have plenty of youth in the pipeline to make it less painful. Losing Stank sucks for sure but not having to move Bourque or Bichsel for Rantanen is a huge W.

Honestly if you’re in the west your motivation to do anything substantial will be hard to justify when you see how loaded Dallas and Colorado are. Then there’s Edmonton, Winnipeg and Vegas.

Vancouver being a loser is expected

Their owner is beyond stupid

We’ve had a deadlines where our GM has said. “We ran out of time”
“We couldn’t make up our mind”
We had other deadlines where we were clearly out of it and we extended absolute trash

We gave Tanner Pearson a franking extension at the deadline a few years ago with trade clauses while our GM complained about not having enough cap room for Hughes

We have a bottom 5 offense in the league right now
Their owner just handcuffs management as he is DEATHLY afraid of draft picks
He hates them more than he hates paying workers on his farms

At least we didn’t mortgage the future? We weren’t fatally flawed yesterday. We didn’t lose a single prospect, didn’t lose a 1st. Our team was already very, very good. It’s anyone’s conference right now.

What future? What do we have when Hellebuyck and Scheif fall off or retire? The window is Hellebuyck and Scheifele and it will never be better for Winnipeg, ever.

I have zero trust in this org and coach to give a young player a serious shot at C for the forseeable future, so the only way they're solving it is a trade.

We better not be using that pick at the draft

And what, just don't replace Andersson?

Sorry boys, I know you wanted playoff but I'm terrified I can't sign one of our best players because he sees no future here. Sure hope that extra 2nd becomes a 1D

It's time to move on. The Bruins realized this and got a haul cause it was a sellers market. The attitude of if we just sneak in anything can happen isn't going to produce long term results. Plus, if we just miss out we're giving up an earlier pick instead of giving up the Florida pick.

I think the Oilers made two of the best trades of the entire deadline BUT not top 6 F to play with Leon when he is having the season of a lifetime AND relying on Skinner to take us all the way makes me a sad boy. At least VGK and LA didn't do much and if we can somehow make it to the WCF the last man standing between DAL/COL/WPG will be beat up, like DAL was last year.

No bigger loser than Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Clownhawks

Losers

Red Wings.

Positive: Bought a 4th for 1.29M in cap space for retaining on Gourde.

However... they dealt a nothing player making 2.275M for a nothing goalie making 4M and a 35 year old half-dead Craig Smith. They got more expensive and didn't improve their team. And Yzerman is trying to sell it as "the goalie market is gonna suck in the offseason." Yeah, and you're going to have probably the worst added goaltending in terms of value/production at the end of it. I'd rather sign Dan Vladar for 2M than have Petr Mrazek at 4.

Carolina and Colorado moved out a whole lot to end up with rosters for this year that are worse than what they started with

laughably wrong in the case of the Avs
I get why they did it but for this year Rantanen+Middlestadt vs. Necas+Drury+Nelson+Coyle is at best a push IMO. Adding Lindgren was a very underratedly awful move that will make them worse.

Blew basically every asset they had to make it happen

Oilers blew it

Kings blew it

Vegas didn’t blow it but still needed more depth

Jets didn’t blow it and the market for them sucks but they needed a 2C

Florida and Tampa did well

Toronto needed to go for a better forward than Laughton

Pens sold well on useless players

Colorado and Dallas won

I don’t understand how Carolina conducted their business with Rantanen
