It's only a matter of time in our corporate world until NHL jerseys look like that. It starts with a emblem on the helmet. Then the pizza-pizza guy appears as a shoulder patch....in a decade there will be more ads on the jerseys than the sideboards. It will look like Ricky Bobby's racing coat.
I wonder how much jersey sales will plummet when that happens. I know I certainly will never buy one with an ad on it (aside from the team emblem itself)

The NBA jerseys you buy from the team stores do not have logos on them, despite the ones the player wear in games having them.

Imagine it would be the same. Unless they go the soccer route (I highly doubt)

Reminds me of Mattias Ritola, decent at everything, great at nothing. A Swedish Cory Emmerton if you will.

Behind the net
Eemil Viro has at least one thing that he is very good at, baiting the forward to chase him behind the net and skating up with the puck and giving a solid first pass. A skill that most finnish defenders are good at, since in the finnish Liiga there is a lot of standing behind your own net with the puck.

Thought....

Berggren to be final Holland pick to join the Red Wings?

Berggren is knocking on the door and should get his chance in Detroit soon enough, but after that? Are there any Holland picks who could still join Detroit who haven't played in the NHL yet? Only guy that jumps out as having close proximity is McIsaac, and I think he's a long-shot at best, both given his development and the bevy of LHD prospects in the system to compete with him.

Others still technically in the mix: Barton, Brattstrom, O'Reilly. Even if any of these other guys make the Wings, they don't project to be anything more than 4th-liners/3rd-pair/back-up goalies.

So at the very least, Berggren seems to be the last Holland draft pick to potentially have a significant impact.

Berggren is probably the last in a long line of failure from the Holland administration. I don't expect McIsaac to get more than a cup of coffee at this point.

That 2018 draft class that we were so hopeful for really looks like it flamed out. :(

It sure was exciting for a hot minute though, eh? I still remember people posting the idea that we had drafted our entire future 2nd-line with those first 3 picks. Oops.

Maybe we did it with the '22 draft though

It honestly wasn't far off.

Nobody was expecting that Zadina was overhyped by CSB, or that his athletic ability and drive would limit him the way it has.

Veleno didn't have a rookie season that blew the roof off but he could still be a useful player. I still have hope that Veleno can turn into a solid defensive 3rd liner.

Berggren could still very well become a very good scoring winger. His problem was missing most of his D+1 and D+2 years. If he becomes a top 6er then it salvages an otherwise shit year at the draft.

Some comments from Håkan on Edvinsson, Wallinder, Niederbach and Söderblom

On Edvinsson & Wallinder:
"I haven't gone through in detail, but I can't imagine there are too many better defense prospects anywhere."

Niederbach:
Theodor Niederbach is a player that Andersson believes in a lot and someone he believes many have not opened their eyes to until now during the WJC.

"I think he can do even more. He's a super smart player and it's starting to show now. People are starting to see all his little clever things he does in the game."

Söderblom:
"I can say that it is very unusual to be two meters tall and have such skilled hands. I don't know who to compare him to. There aren't many normal-sized people who have his skills. It's awesome.

I definitely agree about Niederbach. Not sure about his ultimate upside as he doesn't seem to have an true high end tool but he's really intelligent, more than I initially thought, and I became more fond of him watching him this WJC. "little clever things he does in the game" is exactly what I noticed. I think Wallinder and Edvinsson weren't as consistent but both showed flashes of really high end stuff.

Thanks for sharing!

Left out Draper and Mehlenbacher just because I think those guys will have pretty small roles on their respective teams this year, but I will be looking forward to see how they do too.

Though I suppose Ali could have a smaller role as well.

Yeah you would think people would begin to temper their expectations after seeing this play out numerous times. Like right now, how we think we have 78 better Hronek replacemets in our prospect pool and should trade him away for whatever we can get.
