I'm simply saying he could be anything at this point so why not be on the better side? If he's not, he's not, but I'm not going to assume he's bad less than a week into the season. If that's not liked, then so be it.
I'm also not saying he is a bad player either. You are just assuming that and must find a way to defend that. The player is here for a reason. To help fill out the roster. I'm not looking for the next DeBrincat just a player that can eat some bottom 6 minutes. Anyway I'm going to move on now.

your ignoring the logic. if you cant say hes just a guy after two games, you also cant say hes anything more then a filler after two games. hes been cut by two teams, its latta all over again.

let me ask you this, what is your scorecard on saying 'this guy could be pretty good' for walk on free agents?

do you think it hits 20 percent? 30? i probably could start a list of guys youve said this about, and the stats on the guys that make it are not pretty.
True

Arguing aside about Struthers. The elephant in the room is our OA'S and 04 born players underachieving so far big time. Every one of them. Is this a rebellion to new systems or just plain lack of motivation? Yes. It can turn around but if we are relying on the fringe roster fillers to do it we are in trouble even if only 2 games in. Normally I put zero emphasis on preseason but this year it seems super relevant.

Agree with this and what Teflon said.
I know this is a rebuild year. We can lose every game and be a lottery team, I don't care. What I do care about is heart, work ethic, motivation, energy, attitude, determination and the will to win. If I'm seeing this , score doesn't really matter although those things will lead to better outcomes.

Win or lose the scouts are watching.

The biggest miss in the OHL IMO was Debrincat. 20 teams passed on him in the draft.

There was a few teams trying to sign him, from what I remember and he choose Erie. But ya teams all passed on him at the draft. Ooooops lol. Big miss

first time through he was not that good, he improved.

second time through i know some teams had interest, it was probably a dance of drafting him and tipping other teams off about him, or trying to wait until after the draft and hoping to get him as a free agent. if you want to draft a kid in his second year of eligibility, you need to add him to the list, sometimes its best to keep the kid hidden vs adding him and alerting everyone.

I would agree with most of this. Teams and players consistently get bogged down on the opposition and what they do. The coaches are the ones that need to be concerned with that. Players can control only 3 things which are attitude, effort and focus. If one of those things lack the other two likely follow. After 2 games we can say collectively they have fallen short in those 3 areas.

What do you think of the Savages and Schwab now holding a minority stake in the Ottawa Senators along with Rocco Tulio?

I'm kind of torn on it. On one hand, with the amount of people involved, they could bounce around ideas that benefit other clubs, like the Spitfires. On the other hand, it kind of makes me feel like the Spits are simply an asset as opposed to a passion. I don't like feeling that way but it's my initial reaction.

Great for them. There are only so many individuals capable of being involved in professional ownership. Some fanchises go for close to a billion dollars now. Stats show there are close to 2 million millionaires in Canada. Compare that to only 38 people that are billionaires. I think it will be interesting the investment they make with the Spits moving forward and their interest level. I mean we did get a great "coaching search" this summer.

They’ve operated the Spits on the cheap for years so they certainly should have the $$ to be able to afford to buy in. Now if they’d sell the Spits to Tulio it would bring a smile to my face.

Yup. I know of at least 2 teams outside Erie thst made inquiries. Good on Erie for making it happen. McD n Co. were a good sell feature I'm sure, but kid kept chasing it and made it happen. Love those stories.

Windsor is kinda just a thought now. Probably focus more on the sens

Need to start this weekend off on a Winning note. Need to get into the win Column. But really just want to see a hard effort from all players. Need Joey to have a big game and build his confidence up. Guys Like Smith, Peer, Malliet, Abraham have to step up offensively and defensively, play as leaders and play the right way. Hopefully we see some emotion out there and some players step up now in week #2.

Go Spitfires!🍻

A needed win. A very entertaining game, especially in the 2nd and 3rd period. The veterans were much better. Jodoin continues to struggle. Walton seems to play a simple game and make a good first outlet pass, liking that acquisition.

Greentree up to 6 points already, almost scored quite a few times in this one. Dionicio gambles every time he is on the ice but I like it, dude is exciting to watch and he has that great shot. Can't help but think what they could get for him in a deal later in the season. Anyways a solid win.
