Pasquale Zito already on the road and headed to Windsor.

“I’m coming back to an incredible organization that matured me as a player and a person and I want to give back and try to help them make a playoff push,” Zito said.

You know Bowler took alot of heat for hiring Smith. His hand was likely forced to give him a chance based on his long tenure with the team and was on a short leash which Bowler tightened quickly and fired him. Delmore wasn't in the cards as HC in Bowler's mind and hence left. Now Bowler turns 3 OA'S into 3 OA'S plus 13 draft picks. That is pure brilliance imo.
Absolutely incredible deadline to this point. Worst deal under his belt has to be a 4th for Smith?

Upgraded BUP Goalie too. Zito and Donoso provide protection in different ways.

Crafty move on the Zito deal with Windsor getting picks FOR playing Zito lol

Actually a 4th for Smith at the time seemed reasonable, toss in that he had 22G,25A in 62 games last year for an 18 year old was fine.
This season total disappointment, too bad unfortunately.

Are we sure Windsor gets the picks?

Being crafty is fine I am still skeptical of getting value out of him on the ice. It's not like he was playing in the ECHL or AHL. He hasn't played a single regular season game and the last time he dressed for a game was Sept 9th 2023. It's one thing to be skating on your own etc.. but to suddenly go into the lineup with 31 games and pick things up with a new staff and new group of players. I have doubts on his impact.

I would think so by the language of the deal,if said player plays OA season and it doesn't specify where deal should apply.
That would mean the picks go to Niagara though, or am I missing something?

this was the trade Windsor made with Niagara, where there were conditionAl picks but they were on the 4th and 5th round picks. (Assuming the conditions are he returns as an OA)

By my reading Windsor receives everything, the last 2 would not be forwarded to Windsor had Zito made pro or in this case sat out the whole year.

I imagine during the trades last year Windsor moved the Oshawa 2nd in 2023 and 2024 and possibly the 4th and 6th from Niagara for 2024 picks.

My question is, how did Windsor get back the 3rd and 5th they paid for Zito back like some here think?

my understanding is that the 3rd and 5th in that trade automagically go to Niagara, not Windsor unless I am missing something.

Well that is a good sign. I really hope he's in the right headspace. On paper I love what he brings and I think it's what we need but I can't take watching another 19-20 yr old skating around just going thru the motions. Pisses me off watching Smith waste his talent and opportunity.

Why would Windsor give more to Niagara had he played an overage season? The other way around. The receiving team at the time promises more if that player plays an overage season. In this case. 1 game constitutes on overage season.
