Speaking of coaching, if Savard moves on what about Wellwood? Windsor guy, with Newfoundland in the ECHL. It was his choice to not renew with Flint, and I could see that being a not wanting to be with the team thing over a not wanting to be with the league thing.

Wellwood turned Flint around when he took over. I'd be happy with him. Young enough to still connect with junior A players with serious experience for a young guy.

I was told that Wellwood was advised by DJ Smith to get a head coaching job in the minors professionally and then after a couple of years or so he would bring him to Ottawa in the NHL to be one of his assistants, may explain why Savard was hired even after Wellwood left Flint.

Yep i was one. Did not think he was physically ready. Good for him tho! Hell of a year. Terrible for us…
I was one too same reasoning regarding readiness physically, though once he wasn't here at camp knew he was gone.
Great for him, heck of a year, tremendous person one of my favorite Spits of all time, very personable and humble
Never thought team without him and 6 others who moved on graduation or Zito asking out, leaving Miedema who got traded just past midseason and Abraham who missed 2/3 of the season, only Maggio in the top 10 with points last season played the whole season would finish in 1st again.
Disappointing finish very impressive regular season despite graduations, early pro career(Johnston) and most man games missed due to injury/ illness which unfortunately carried on through the playoffs.

Some defense would of helped a lot..

Curious - McLlwain and McManus both played this season but are 03s. I don't recall either signing so I'm assuming they're not returning as OA possibilities?

Mcmanus is the type of grit the team lacked. Overage material not really with 3 coveted spots but is the type of player we need to fill out a hard nosed 4th line. Played twice his size.

Wyatt Johnston scores the series winning goal for Dallas.

Remember when some of you said he wasn’t ready for the NHL?
I was hoping the NHL was watching our board, I wanted to see him win a championship in Windsor, not Dallas… lol

I haven’t closely followed the NHL in years, but I’ve been keeping tabs on Johnston and I’m hoping the Stars go all the way!

Pete's have a big lead in series now.
I’ve got Pete’s in 6. London’s ready to burn Bowen at the stake. Wish he wasn’t an 05’ as I’d be wanting us to send offers. Young kid, great potential, got put into a really tough spot with Brochu going down.

I’d be more upset our star goalie can’t stay healthy rather than our 17 year old backup averaging 4 GAA against the best team in the Eastern Conference (well “best” as the playoff statistics say).

It was the Wide Open West this year.
Windsor was dominated by the 8th seed.
London has played good team hockey minus up front star power.
Sarnia was better on paper than they ever shaked out to be.
I saw Saginaw with potential to go the distance after their Flint series.

I thought Windsor had the best chance to beat the East, but I also didn’t think we’d be seeing the Pete’s in the finals, although I was impressed with Simpson when he came here.

Long term Knights fans see this season as a dress rehearsal for what to expect next season and beyond. Win or lose, their younger players are getting a wealth of playoff experience. Management gets to see weak areas that need to be addressed, which they will do. Next season might not be so wide open.

As they should. The knights have a lot of young talent right now. While I assume the season goal is always the OHL Title, I think the Knights fans should be pleasantly surprised they’re so close.

It was kind of like Windsor in 21-22. Didn’t really spend like crazy to acquire assets, just kind of used what they had and put on a run. The one thing London has, Windsor didn’t is a graduating star goalie and elite defender.

Somewhere
same, but since Windsor got bounced so early in the playoffs, he missed the cutoff by 1 game and his eligibility may have been pushed back a year.

Would be huge for Windsor‘s rebuild if true.
Would all depend on how his summer goes. He hasn’t done anything special in the AHL and was actually a healthy scratch in Coachella’s last game.

Which cutoff was that? I was under the impression that he was almost guaranteed to be pro-bound?!

That said... I'm reading on Twitter that conversations need to be held regarding his AHL eligibility. He may still stick in the NHL but I'm intrigued by a remote OHL option.
