Assuming Henault comes back......I think the obvious pairings are:
Ladd. Henault
Robinson. Sobolov

Which two are on the third pairing out of the other 4?

For me it would be Renwick/Ride
as the last pr.
I would put Ladd with Robinson
and Sobolev with Henault.

I can’t see a guy with zero games of experience on the top pairing. But who knows.

Ladd and Robinson would be top pairing, followed by Sobolev and Henault, then Renwick with Ride or Jodoin.
Without Henault here,Ride slides in with Renwick, Ladd winds up Jodoin and Sobolev would be with Robinson, with Deangelis the 7th guy,who may slide in with Renwick if Ride struggles.

Unfortunately, this season, the term "experience" may be used pretty loosely. Outside of Ladd and Henault, the group doesn't have many games played. Renwick is around 80 games while Robinson is around 60. As long as Henault is in the AHL, someone less experienced is going to be in the top two.

I’ll be surprised if Henault isn’t on the top pairing. Not that I think he should be.....but I’d be surprised if he wasn’t. I really think with more ice time and some PP time, Robinson could be a big surprise. It doesn’t hurt that there has been a coaching change. I think most of his “issues” came down to a clash with TL.

With those four cuts, this leaves...

Abraham - Baisov - Birkett
Cuylle - D'Amico - Johnston
Maggio - McDonald - Miedema
O'Flaherty - Peer - Zito

Foudy, if he returns.

Ladd - Robinson
Sobolev - De Angelis
Ride - Renwick
Jodoin

Henault, if he returns.

Spencer Lecot - Lasalle Vipers
Ethan Martin - Stratford Warriors
Jackson McLlwain - Komoka Kings

Not surprising,as both Martin and McLlwain did not play for Windsor in the last 2 exhibition games, both already playing for their respective B teams,Martin has 1G,2A in 5 games with Stratford, while McLlwain has 1G,3A in 3 games with Komoka
Grenario is just getting back into action after suffering a wrist injury with Windsor in his 2nd exhibition game.
As for Lecot he has been going back and forth the last 2 weeks playing for Windsor and La Salle,in 3 games with La Salle he has 1G,1A.
All 4 players showed moments that they can play,Martin is signed,McLlwain is owned by Windsor, the other 2 are affiliates.
Gives Windsor some depth, something they didn't have when they last played.
In La Salle Matt Tovell who would be Windsor's 3rd tender is off to a great start in 3 games played he is 2-0-0-1 with a goals against average of 1.29 and a save percentage of .953.
Spits have 2 other goalies playing in Jr B
Luka Dobrich 18 year old playing with Chatham Maroons is 1-0 in 1 game played and has an goals against average of 3.00,
while in Stratford JR B same team where Ethan Martin is,Spits property goalie Tyler Bouck(17) is 3-0,with a goals against average of 2.12 and a save percentage of .928.
Other Spitfire owned players playing JR B,that I know of, are dmen Shawn Horne(18),Tanner Winegard (16), forwards Jack Greenwell (16), and Noah Morneau (16) all playing for the La Salle Vipers, winger Luke Fritz (17) is with Stratford in 4 games he has 3G,0A , and Cen Josh Beiles(17) is playing for the Nevan Grads in the Ottawa area.

I have no inside info or anything like that, but my strong suspicion would be that we'll see Henault signed and starting in the pros. I believe outside of their top prospects (Zegras, Drysdale, Perreault, McTavish, Tracey), Henault is the only junior eligible prospect remaining in either of the Ducks or AHL Gulls camps. If I'm not mistaken, all other junior eligible FA invites have already been released back to join their CHL clubs to start the season.

No idea if we are talking about an ELC or an AHL/ECHL contract, but in the least it's now probably safe to say that Henault would be back in Windsor today unless the Ducks are very strongly considering the possibility of signing him to start his pro career.

As of now FWIW, he's one of only six Dmen on the AHL camp roster, though of course more will be sent down.

It would be almost amusing if one thing the Spitfires were successful at over the years (finding talented FAs) was the thing that bit them in the butt this year (losing one to the AHL).

Keep in mind Anaheim has 14 Dmen still at camp too, which at least 6 could be sent down to the AHL.

13 as of today, one being recent 2nd rounder Zellweger who will eventually be returned to junior, another Hutton just on a PTO as of now. May only end up being three or four more sent down to AHL camp, and that's assuming the Ducks remain fully healthy (never a safe assumption). That leaves 9 or 10 D in minor league camp which seems just about the right number for AHL/ECHL depth.

Perhaps they are taking a longer look at both Henault and fellow FA invite 2000 born Larose, but will only have room to sign one.

Looks like you guys are a couple of forwards short

With a roster of 12 forwards listed,I would not mind an addition of 1 forward for now, preferably a Center, through acquisition, or free agent signing.
As mentioned earlier Spits do have 1 16 year old forward signed,Ethan Martin a Center .
Roster excluding Henault stands at 21 players.
I am not counting on Foudy being sent back by Colarado, despite the fact that I think Foudy isn't ready for pro hockey at this time.
Spits can thank their lucky stars that Will Cuylle didn't play 2 more games in the AHL last year, otherwise he would be gone too like Foudy, and Windsor would be the only team in the 60 team CHL to lose 2 players to the American league.Of course 50 teams in the CHL weren't subject to this rule situation as only 10 OHL teams were at risk of losing someone to the AHL
So far ORourke from SSM is the only player returned from the AHL,although Montreal has said they intend on sending forward Jan Mysak back to Hamilton.

Henault officially released by Ducks.........now what?

Hopefully on his way back to Windsor, ideally practice today,am skate tomorrow and in the lineup tomorrow night vs Sarnia.
The 5 weeks away at development and then training camp with an NHL club hopefully has paid off.
Getting him,Cuylle, Robinson ,Renwick in the lineup will be huge.
Get Medina to play the way he did, most of the last half of the season Windsor played and things will be fine imo.

Where have people seen that the Ducks released him outright? He's currently listed on the San Diego Gulls' roster, though no picture and minimal information.

As some of you may know, I live in the US. Crossed the border for the 1st time in 19 months today. I was a lot easier than I anticipated. Looking forward to hockey!!!

Ontario-based OHL teams given green light to travel to US: commissioner - Kitchener News
That is good news for the league and for the players. It would have sucked for the 3 US teams if they were stuck playing each other. Also wondering out loud if teams can use the US route to get to the Soo? It would be a tough 14 hour trip if they had to travel around the lakes.

How about wondering if the Soo can use the US route? Instead of 1 or 2 tough 14 hour trips, we are talking about at least a dozen tough 10+ hour trips for one team.

Game Day....after not following the Spits for a number of yrs because of the league's soft hockey policy I'm hoping Savard brings back a bit more grit to the game especially at home if they want to fill 3400 seats regularly. Time will tell .....
