Not great for Willy. The only mitigating factor is on the slow-mo replay (not sure if anyone has posted it) it looks like he was aiming a bit lower and his stick bounced off of Schmidt's gloves and angled upwards... but "I was aiming for his throat" isn't much of an excuse.

I'm betting all of my ebux on 1-2 games. He’s not getting suspended
Part of the reason I like Willy more is he has improved every season.Willy and Mitch are close and have been for two seasons now. I'd probably give the overall in that time to Willy and yes, because playoffs, Mitch has 2 more RS points and 4 more PO points...but 3 less PO goals in that time.
Mitch has been better so far but it's not like Willy is yanking his dong; Mitch has been a 9.5/10 and Willy has been a 9. It's again close.
Who passes who is a question for the future and to be settled in the playoffs, because RS I think Mitch beats him out by 10-15 points and better defensive play, but Willy gets 10-15 more goals.
...
I think Willy does better in the playoffs not because he's more 'clutch' or anything, but because he's stronger, faster, shoots better and is more difficult to contain in a tight game.
As I said, not great, but I don't agree with the people who say it's bad.Even since like 50 years ago, I always kept an eye on goal differential. When teams are close in the standings but one has a much better goal differential, that's usually the better team. So far this season, WPG, CAR and WSH are the top tier and the Leafs aren't even close. At the same time, I wouldn't read too much into this as it's still early, injuries, schedule and adjusting to a new system are all factors here.

I can live with it.
It didn't impact the game, but maybe good for reputation.Sometimes you have to be an animal out there.
Not a liability this game wich you cannot say about most of the players. 2shots on goal 1 worse then the top shoting forwards in this game Marner and W Nylander. The same as Tavares and Roberstsson. 50%v faceoff. +- 0 in a 5-1 game, Ok in 10min playtime. I would take a chance and give him way more minutes, as he is one of those players that need heavy minutes to thrive.I know this is a Willie thread but not getting why they signed his brother. He doesn’t bring much.
Sure, not bad at all. I'm just dreaming of winning the cup (yep, still dreaming despite being beaten down over the last 8 years) so thinking about who the top contenders are, and whether or not we're one of them. Based on goal differential, we're definitely not but like I said, it's still early. I wouldn't be surprised if we sold futures at the TDL either, I feel like we have a year or two to take a shot and then our D will be too old and our window will be closed. As I said, not great, but I don't agree with the people who say it's bad.
WPG, CAR, and WSH, along with the Leafs, are 4 of the 7 teams with the fewest goals against. Even their goal differential, at +12, isn't bad - 9th overall.

If you are a Nylander you seem to be judged realy fast (like Willy as C). While others can go on sucking forever. Aint this just his second game?
They signed him because of injuries. Who would they have signed at that low cost?
I want to see him a few games with NHL players and more minutes, before i write him off.
Now i felt the need to write something about Will. Dont think he will get suspended.
I'm not saying he won't get suspended, Parros basically spins a wheel for this stuff, but are you talking about Rielly's suspension for hitting someone long after an empty net goal from last year? That's a lot different than what happened last night. The “rode up” excuse didn’t help Rielly last year and Meier just got a game for cross-checking a guy in the face. We all know the deal with Parros and DoPS. Expect a tweet will drop from them soon.

I like the old idea that a superstar should have a snap show moment once in a while and keep opponents at a healthy distance. The guy who really needed to invest in that reputation was Auston Matthews in his early years. If he had just shown the prison yard how mean and vicious he could be, play a guy mean like Dahlin, he’d get more room out there in the playoffs.
I also liked seeing Marner run Barkov from behind. Greasy and unnecessary. Playing the Panthers way.

I'll take your word for it.He has a pulse, and isn't injured.
Well, it's not the ZHL yet... the Zombie Hockey League... I posted about him, in the thread on him... maybe have a read there, and continue that discussion there?I'll take your word for it.
