I always knew Nylander was a star, put up very impressive numbers throughout his career.

But this season I truly believe that Nylander has taken another step, not just offensively, but defensively as well.

25 points and 16 games is extremely impressive on top of it.

He seems pretty special, and a lot of people might think this is a hot take( or not) but I believe this year he has been the best Toronto Maple Leaf, going toe to toe with Matthews as the best player on the team, And truly reached superstar status for the first time in his career.

Watching the Leafs in the playoffs I've always liked him the most. He is a gooder.
I did too, until he had the puck in the O-zone for a scoring chance in OT and just gave the puck away to avoid a Gudas hit.

He's just like Matthews and Marner

I don’t think so, I feel like he has more silent snarl than both of them.

Other than one playoffs really, he seems to have elevated his game in challenging moments.

Just in time for a fat juicy contract!
But he seriously looks the best in the playoffs too (vs other Toronto stars), so who knows, maybe he'll perform to be worth the contract

Up until that point I agreed with you about Nylander, but that moment really stuck with me and encompassed the last 6ish years of being a Leafs fan.

I've said it about all of them, it doesn't matter how many regular season points they put up. If they keep disappearing in the playoffs its irrelevant. For Nylander to truly up his game in the challenging moments, he needs to not be ducking out from hits in OT

Very good player, but IMHO a minor quibble that a "star" means one is known by local sport fans generally and perhaps even by the fans of a sport league generally, while by contrast a "superstar" is somebody known nationally, if not internationally, by average folks who may not even follow any sports at all, e.g., Shaquille O'Neal, Patrick Mahomes, etc.

A good rule of thumb is whether somebody has been in an insurance commercial or appeared in network commercials for non-sports timeslots, If not, at best they are a mere star.

Of course, somebody could be a "superstar" to you subjectively, and there is nothing wrong with that if it makes you happier.

I’ve always said that he’s the only guy on the Leafs who I felt threatened by when he had the puck on his stick in the series against the Panthers last year.

Has his tourist visa to enter his own zone finally been approved?
He can float as much as he wants if he puts up these kind of numbers.

This is your own quibble because you don’t want to give him his flowers for whatever reason

Always nice to see fans of other teams hyping up leaf players when they need a new contract

Everyone wants to see Nylander get overpaid or leave Toronto. It’s a win-win situations for the trolls.

Canucks fans are praying that Nylander signs with their team so they can add another star forward that just so happens to be from Sweden
