At this point I think it would probably be best for Nylander's career and well-being to get out of this market. I'm a big fan of his and wish him all the success, and he'll probably find lots of it elsewhere. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Kessel type situation where he thrives as a complimentary piece and wins the Cup. The relationship between him and this market is just too toxic, and the mobs will be out with pitchforks for every mistake.

Plus we can probably get a lot of interesting pieces in return. Should be easy to get a Clarkson-type player and more in return, and this market loves gritty Canadians.

I think by and large most fans like Willy and are glad he is here. Sure you will hear negative stuff but you can't please everybody. My worry would be Willy sours on us.

Keep in mind Eichel would be doubling up as GM

Jack Eichel's attitude reminds me of disgruntled NBA superstar on a bad team in a small market. The guy's been complaining about a lack of success since his ELC days. My god, how is a kid barely in his 20s going to be a franchise cornerstone and real leader if he can't even handle the early days of a rebuild.

Absolutely wouldn't want him here, or a couple of others I've read about, as unlikely as it would be, namely Hall or Laine.

I don't agree with that. A potential move is all part and parcel part of the game and could be beneficial to both parties one day, but the best thing for William Nylander's career is stepping up and winning the cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs while playing behind the cast of characters he has ahead of him. Not going somewhere obscure and piling up meaningless production away from high expectations.

He has played like this for past 9 games.

Easily he and Hyman have been the top forwards over that stretch.

Marner and Matthews carried the team for the first 20 games and will heat up again and JT and Nylander have to keep it up.

He could've had like 4 goals tonight if Hellebyuck didn't do his best Ryan Miller impersonation from the 2010 olympics

Willy's skating is looking a lot better lately, been an absolute force the last few games

Back-checked super hard all game too, if he plays like that for an entire season he's a PPG player

Great player who doesn't deserve the shit he gets. Mind it's just a couple very vocal idiots at the end of the day.
