Most points before age 24 season since Nylander entered the league including his abysmal season last year:

8 of the 15 ahead of him already have higher cap hits, and all but Ehlers likely will by the time his current deal is up. He's a really good player on a really good contract. PPG under Keefe suggests he could get even better.

It was a pretty poor game from him to be honest, but he came up huge with that goal. He is now top 5 in GWG for a U23 player in Maple Leafs history. Not bad for a guy who hasn't been a natural goalscorer before this season and who allegedly never shows up when it counts.

Can’t just enjoy a performance. Hilarious.
In-f***ing-deed.

Dubas getting the deal done and refusing to trade Nylander was an excellent decision. Nylander is paying the team back for believing in him and then some
Talked with someone yesterday who actually argued that we should have sent Willy packing when he didn't sign in the off-season, just to send a message.

Can you imagine if we had been watching him on a 40 goal, PPG+ pace on another team, while we had a lesser version of Barrie in Dumba fumbling around on our blueline? It would have been one of our worst trades in modern times if that came to pass.

If he had an average season of 60~ points last season he'd be 12th! but that is on him of course his poor play was the reason, but imagine he got the deal done in camp and played the full season we'd have 3 players under 24 in the top 12 of scoring thats crazy and certainly justifies the "Big 3" they were given. as it is though 3 in top 16 is awesome. Winnipeg and coloroado have 2 rest are singles.

The dumbest thing about that disgusting Pronger quote is that it's not a showboating move, he's not needlessly embarrassing someone. He does the only thing he can do in that situation to change the angle on a perfectly positioned Vasilevski so he can get a scoring chance out of it. It's simply smart hockey.

old player embarrasses himself read all about it.

The attitude of "dont showboat or show up the competition" is such a stupid one, this is the NHL the absolute peak of the game if you are good enough to show a guy up do it f*** them they're big boys they'll get over it. And if you get shown up work hard to make sure it doesnt happen in the future. Fighting a guy because he pulled of a skilled move and embarrassed your team is actually more embarrassing essentially showing your fans we couldn't stop him so we will beat him up to teach him a lesson.

I remember comments about Willy possibly becoming the next Forsberg and how people shot that down because he was too soft. Well he has a long way to go of course to reach that level but he's definitely trending in the right direction. Last couple of seasons the slightest breeze would knock the puck loose or him on his ass. This year he's taking checks, avoiding checks and maintaining puck control. And the best part is that when he doesn't have the puck he's going after it on a fairly consistent basis.

It's odd that someone like Pronger would complain about a skilled play in hockey yet was apparently OK with his own career moves including 8 suspensions for things such as stomping on a player with a skate blade. But yeah......heaven forbid you make a skilled play to score a goal. Totally not cool.

Yup, no idea why the constant need for pissing contests. Both will likely go down as some of the best Leafs of all time when all is said and done, we're blessed to have both.

I think this part gets missed a lot. We obviously aren't a complete roster yet and there are some issues we hope get rectified towards the ultimate goal of winning a Cup but I don't think many people realize what we are potentially witnessing on the individual level here and are losing out on some of the enjoyment of that. Obviously, we want the Cup, not individual achievements but if some of these guys remain in the organization long term, we are witnessing history here.

Brings about a question I was thinking about the other day, I wonder who was the last Leaf player to start and end their career in Blue and White...specifically guys that had a long career and played the whole thing here? I really struggle to think who that would be and bet you'd have to go back to the 50's or 60's. Was thinking about a team like Pittsburgh where guys like Sid, Malkin, Lemieux etc. spend their whole career there.

So why was Pronger making these comments when Nylander scores a goal between the legs but it was crickets when Tkachuk has done it. Or how about Svechnikov doing the lacrosse goal twice.
Did he make an announcement or was he answering a question?

A whole season under Keefe and 1st unit pp usage is going to be insane totals.

Some might even say "elite"

A one off outlier, or is this indicative of a franchise player's numbers? Would Willy be a top 1/2 player on any team? I say maybe. If he was groomed as a centre, probably.

Clutch Willy baby. Clutch Willy. Keep getting greasy baby. I love it. The progression this year is OFF the charts good. Gotta give kudos to Keefe. Great match up with JT-genius man genius. This line will get even better with a healthy Mik. It is what this line needs for playoffs. We will take down Tampa with 2 dominant lines.

Well..Noodles set him up for that one, obviously looking for the "in my day" response but yes, Pronger played in a different era. Just glad he's enjoyed his LTIR money because he was concussed so many times in the good old days. There is a reason the two handers on the gloves and head shots are being removed from the game.

Doing these things in game, these never before seen plays that didnt happen 30 years ago, now becoming more regular is simply the evolution of the game.
Pronger is now the old man yelling at the kids to get off his lawn.

I think there's a very good chance that all three of the youngsters do this. Marner is a Leaf through and through, franchise players like Matthews rarely move, and Nylander just wants a place to call home. Based on what I've heard, if the Leafs traded him there's a chance that Willy chains himself to the arena. He wants to be here that much.

I am sure I missed someone but maybe not?
