Hence why I said 'natural'. Matthews has worked on it and reached another level, but before this season I felt like Nylander looked the most comfortable defensively and always had a good sense of knowing where he needed to be; if he got beat it was largely cause of effort rather than being lost or not understanding the fundamentals.I may have agreed prior to this season, but Matthews has been a legitimate two-way beast this year. Even then, his tracked defensive metrics have always been phenomenal; his macro results have finally caught up.
