Great vid, just missing that breakaway goal in game one of the playoffs against Boston a few years back.
I like Cherry, but that was some incredibly bad analysis at the start of the video. In hindsight, quite possibly one of the worst takes I've ever heard (especially now that we've seen so much Ritchie this season).
Rewatched the last game ...been doing that a lot lately.
I counted enough solid opportunities for willy that game to have given him 4 points with a bit more luck. I always said this team needs him to be good to win and they are getting it. It looks like his conditioning has stepped up a notch too.
He's playing well but lets not get crazy here.
He was taking himself off shifts early last year. Getting jacked has short term implications cardio wise .He's always had great conditioning. I believe he finished highest in the cardiovascular testing at the 2014 draft combine...since then he's gotten pretty jacked as well.
I guess there’s always one.
Yep, he's come a long way. He's not better than Marner but he's definitely much, much closer than their salaries would indicate.
Nylander a million more, Marner a million less? He's not better than Marner but he's definitely much, much closer than their salaries would indicate.

Nylander a million more, Marner a million less?
So you realize that Marner already has more post contract points than Nylander with a season less, right?Without adjusting for cap % (Marner signed a year later under a higher cap) id say a million more for Nylander and 2 million less for Marner.

Sure but Nylander has seasoned a year longer and Nylander still isn't trending as good a marner from last year. Let's see what the distance is this year at the end. Don't get me wrong. Nylanders cap hit is very favorable right now but that isnt how cap averages work. He is into his 4th of 6 years. It was inevitable that he would show some level of improvement relative to the 6 year average of his contract.I've acknowledged that the gap used to be bigger, I'm saying currently Nylander is a lot closer to Marner than he used to be.

I think the diff between Willie now and before is he is either very invisible or very dominant, where as this season, if Willie didn’t put up any points or didn’t have jumps, he still plays really solid and noticeable in his back check and little things. Not saying he didn’t have bad games bc he did have a few this season just like any players in the NHL.Sure but Nylander has seasoned a year longer and Nylander still isn't trending as good a marner from last year. I hate doing Marner vs Nylander comparisons. I know people think the gap is shrinking (and I agree). The problem is that the moment Marner surpasses Nylander this year in points (I would be shocked if he didn't), we will start seeing the anti-Nylander comments start again because there are a ton of trolls on this forum.
Totally consistently solid. Marner had 67 points in 55 games which is around 100 point pace in the second year of his contract. My point is that Nylander has yet to reach anywhere near that level in his 4th. If Nylander can maintain around a point a game this year, it would be a massive improvement. A 1 million gap is hardly a fair delineationSorry I’m not exactly sure what you mean about Nylander not trending as good as Marner from last year? To my eyes, Nylander has improved more from last season than Marner has. Nylander was more of “diamond in the rough” type, despite being more physically mature.
I don’t think we’ll be seeing anti-Nylander comments unless his play took a huge drop, say a sub 60 point pace. Due to his cap hit I think the expectations are not nearly as high as they are for Marner or Matthews. I haven’t seen much hate at all for Nylander aside from the first year of his post elc contract.
You want to include all the goals that Marner set Matthews up for that Nylander can't replicate? Now do goals
