I dont think so. Demidov, nor Laine, Caufield, Suzuki will play in front of the net, get crosschecked and look for rebounds or deflecions.

How is it an easy answer?

He’s close to last year’s pace. He just needs to keep the pace he has now with 2-3 games where he score 2 points or more the rest of the year and he’ll better last year’s stats in terms of points in 3 less games.

He has 8 shots (on net) in those 4 games too.
And his shooting percentage is now 12% (he finished at 13.2% last year).

But he's hitting more this year, already at 105 hits, he had 151 in 82 games last season.

I find that Slaf speaks quite well and has a great attitude. He talks better than he plays.

I said no. But I’m more in the “don’t care one way or another” camp. We didn’t draft him to get 55 points instead of 47 points. To some extent, it’s irrelevant. A big power forward like him or years ago John Leclair are drafted to win playoff games and Cups. There’s a fair chance we’re already there. What I care about Slaf, is what happens in a couple of months. That he forces open tight playoffs games when the refs don’t call penalties.

PS: still couldn’t care less for Cooley.

Really needs to work on his wrist shot though. He’s basically zero shooting threat. Most of his goals are crashing the net, deflections, lucky bounces. That sneaky PP goal last game (albeit lucky) was good to see, but his 3 other shot attempts were incredibly weak. Most of the time when he’s in a good shooting position he still looks for a pass. Seems to have no confidence in his shot at all this season.

Something he really needs to work on and improve.

The difference this year is his role on the PP is completely different so he's not getting as many PP points and he's playing over 1 minute less per game 5v5. Defensively he's taken a step back but offensively he's exactly the same.

Agreed. I find he is finishing his checks a bit more and that is freeing up some space. Still prone to some blunders from time to time but when he is a bit on the selfish side with the puck, he's very effective. Sometimes I find he forces a pass when he can just keep it. Something he will learn with maturity.

This is a maturity problem. Not an ability problem.

One of the best values he brings on the Suzuki and Caufield line is his long stick and reach. His forecheck with his skating is causing havoc for the other teams D. He really does create turnovers and that helps Suzuki and Caufield do their thing. I love this line. The more I think about it, the more I want it to stay

On the PP, he's still a bit tentative and not 100% confident with the puck. You can see some improvements but he's also making some blunder passes at times when he tries to force something. Maturity issue

I don't care about his points at this stage. That is not how we should be evaluating him. The points will come in his prime but the habits created in style of play is very critical today.
