Will Sens miss the playoffs?

They're a very streaky team often brought down by a few weaker players. Guys like Forsberg and Hamonic have accounted for many of the teams' losses including tonight. I thought the Sens were significantly better than the Sabres tonight, but it is what it is.

I think they make it still but anything could happen. Still a lot of games to be played.

Rough loss but no. Pretty easy schedule to end the year, including 9 of our final 12 at home.

But thank God we don’t have to play Buffalo in the first round

It's possible. Especially if they continue their strategy of either a win streak or a losing streak. They're definitely adding more teams in the race by losing 3 of their last 4 games.

The 2-1-0 loser point system is basically the best cheap gimmick the nhl could imagine. It artificially compresses the standings so lousy teams can stay in it deep into the season while giving teams that “should” (based on overall standings placement at a given moment) be comfortable enough paranoia that they could lose like eight straight games in regulation and free fall down the standings. Does its intended job of making the late season push entertaining at least. Basically throughout the season a lot of teams are always in a spot where a streak in either direction could really shoot you up or knock you down in the standings. All because not every game has the same total point value.

I think they make it in. I don’t think they do much when they are in, but I think they make it. Montreal won’t make it and neither will Detroit IMO

The thing that sticks out is them playing three(!) of their final dozen games against Columbus. They play the Panthers and Hurricanes near the end, but that's after games against Pittsburgh, Philly, and Chicago. I say they go 7-5, finishing with 93 points to make the playoffs.

You better hope so, because if the standings hold now, Sens get our dream playoff matchup

I don't see a lot of panic in the group yet, although maybe that changes with another bad loss in the next two games. It's a very flawed roster, particularly the bottom 1/3rd of it, but there aren't exactly 8 strong teams in either conference.

I could certainly see Ottawa losing hold of WC1 but not sure there are two teams below them to usurp them.

Eh, the barn being filled with Leaf fans could be a difficult experience for the young guys, especially if they come home down 2.

Dream matchup for the Leafs. I don't think the Leafs are worried about playing Ullmark in the playoffs. He's never been able to put up a .900 in the playoffs. The Leafs played him once last year and beat him and Boston hid him for the rest of the playoffs. The last time Ullmark put up a save percentage over .900 in the playoffs was when he was in Sweden.

Leafs don’t have a dream matchup in the playoffs.. even the 8th place Habs and 2020 CBJ had fun with that team

The 8th place Habs that went to the SCF while the Leafs captain missed the whole series? Okay.

If you want to talk about playoff history: The Senators have never beat the Leafs in the playoffs in their entire existence and they've had multiple matchups.

Every team behind them is even more flawed than they are. Ottawa is safe. I expect all of them to accumulate a lot of losses during this "race".

He could have used 6 other examples on you. Literally an argument you can't win.

Well yeah he can say other teams that are better than the Senators beat you in the playoffs - but that won't prove his point about the Sens being a dangerous matchup for anyone.
